I haven't been here lately. My best friend, scooter buddy, and S.O. is in Hospice House. She is terminally ill. My heart is breaking, I am losing the love of my life. It seems like it is taking forever for her to make her transition. The longer it goes on, the more fatigued I become. I have never done so much crying and weeping. Being a Hospice nurse hasn't made it any easier. Knowing what to expect just seems to enhance my sadness. Our friends have rallied around us, to nurture her, and make sure that I eat, sleep, take my meds, etc. My supervisors at work have been very liberal and kind. If you smoke, please quit. If you are young and are considering taking it up, please don't. If you are a cancer patient, eat right, don't miss treatments, stay positive, and enjoy life to it's fullest.

Caretakers are a special kind of people.
Scooterchick, I am glad to see that you have a caring and loving support group of friends and supervisors. It is important for you to take care of yourself and carry on the memory of your dearest friend.

Annie passed away Thursday morning, in the wee hours. She waited for me to leave to go home to bed. I miss her terribly. Even though I helped prepare her body for cremation, and saw the van take her body away, this is all still so surreal to me. I yearn for her to accompany me on her bass while I play.... One of our best friends is buying her scooter.
