any surfers out there that have put one of these on their scooter? I have a 10'6" I am going to carry on my Piaggio bv500. And I can't find any info about them being DOT approved. I will ride with it until I get notice from the highway patrol. www.carversurfracks.com/csrmoped.html#Attachments:

Plenty of them here but nobody with a board that size! The supb guys don't tend to carry them on mopeds due to the size and it becoming a sail. I would imagine longboards would be the same. You are probably a lot safer with a shortboard, much less chance of it catching the wind and changing your lane for you. Whilst I doubt there is a specific law preventing it, there are likely to be several 'vague' laws which could be applied should the trooper wish to do so (overloading a vehicle? etc).

Thanks for the reply. I ride a 10'6" because I'm 61, 240 lbs, and have a titanium hip. Add it all together and you have a slow to get up guy. I can take coast hwy. all the way except the last 1/2 mile where I have to jump on the frwy ( San Onofre )

I'm about the same 6'2 and 220 although with original hips I need a long board as well lol. SUPing is good fun though, still need a huge board. Not sure what wind conditions you would have to deal with but here the side winds would be a serious issue for a longer wider board. The piaggio at least has some decent power to it so you could mitigate a lot of the danger just by knowing your route well and being able to predict when you will get hit by wind.
