OK, now do a search on the Doc for "Motorino maladies", a thread by Bashan that details the function of all these devices. Do it, you need it, he is awesome.

Thanks again, ce.
I do have another hose that connects to the airbox, so that's good.
I am going to do that search now.

I ran into another problem. The carb the seller provided me has the throttle cable on the wrong side. To make it work, I need to fab a new throttle cable bracket to mount on the carb.

What's wrong with the carb that's on the scoot? Looks fine from here, they prolly just yanked all the hoses of and didn't muck it because they didn't know how to get it off. I'd just hook it up and see if it runs first.

I fixed the carb issue. The problem was the scooter was designed for a carb that has the cable pull on the left side. When I put this carb, with the right side throttle pull, I had to rout the cable past the carb, then back forward. This made the throttle cable a tad too short (even after adjustment). So, I modified the bracket that the cable bolts to and gained half an inch. Now the cable works. An engine with a carb with left side pullDSCN4756-EDIT by mjkeogh303, on Flickr My right side pull

Well folks, she runs!
In addition to the melted fuse holder I had a faulty starter relay and there was no ground connected to the engine.
Now I just need to tune the carb, change some fluids, and check out the variator.
Thanks for your support.

Now you have to change your signature. Not bad for $300.

I ordered my sliders and tires today. I should have this scooter on the road soon.

Whew! Installing a Kenda K413 130/60-13 tire is the hardest thing I have ever done! It took a large man standing on the tire, plus me working tire levers to get the last part of the sidewall over the rim.

I hadn't had the joy of putting the scooter on the road yet. I have Kendas on my bicycle, so I figured they could be good scooter tires. I wanted something with either a groove running around the circumference or tightly spaced tread blocks. I old tires had wide grooves, almost as wide as a dual-purpose tire. Before I bought the scoot, the tread blocks on the old ones had feathered badly.

Anything is going to be a big difference from the junk oem tires. I just put Michelin's on mine last weekend, Pilot Sport SC I think. Mounted them myself too, first one was a bitch, second went a lot easier. Big difference in handling, especially when encountering those big grooves in the road that used to make my scoot pretty squirrelly, not any more, yay.
