Check the plastic 'T' or 'Y' on the vacuum line. They are cheap and can crack and leak... This is how they usually look It sounds to me like the petcock is closing at high RPMs Attachments:

I checked all the clamps on the vacuum lines and the tee. I test drove it again and it seemed a little better, but not perfect. It still died a couple of times, but seemed to start again before it came to a complete stop. I guess I will try it again tomorrow and see what happens. I found the CDI (what ever that stands for) and unplugged and reconnected the plugs. How else can I check that? Any other ideas? Thanks

I was wondering if I could bypass the inline petcock. It seems that would tell for sure if it is a vacuum problem. Let me know what you think.

Well, I bypassed the vacuum petcock and it runs perfect. So if I am right, that means I have a vacuum problem. Any ideas on what to do, or should I just put a manual petcock in the line?

Put a manual petcock in. The vacuum ones are cheap and seem to fail alot. Had one on my klr650 and it was found to be the cause of a similar problem. 10 minutes of work and 20 dollars for a new petcock....never had the problem again.

Right ON!!! Petcocks on these scooters suck...
No vacuum problems, I think you have a failing petcock...either replace it or go manual...
I would go manual.. just remember to turn it on or you will stall out in a couple of minutes and off or you could end up in a puddle of gas...
It happened to me many years ago when the tanks were much larger... what a mess...lucky nobody threw a lit cigarette into it!!!! BOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM
