My Lance Duke 250 took a hard fall on the right side. I experienced some problems so I opened it up and found this part that has two hoses that are disconnected. On the photo, I circled the mystery part. Can anyone identify it? Regarding the two disconnected hoses, one is narrow and the other is a little wider. On the mystery part, I see two holes on the bottom - one smaller and one bigger. The smaller hose does fit nicely into the smaller hole, but the larger hose does not. But, I cannot find anything the larger hose should be attached to. Regarding my problem: there's an apparent electrical problem. When my scooter dies, the glass fuse is blown. After replacing the fuse, I get anywhere from 10 feet to 25 miles of riding before the the fuse is blown again. Actually, sometimes, the fuse is blown immediately after I turn the ignition without even starting the engine. I'm guessing the problem is a short circuit somewhere, but I'm wondering if the problem is the rectifier. Can anyone identify the mystery part tell me where the hoses should be? And does anyone have any insight regarding the electrical problem? Thanks everyone. Attachments:

Oh yeah, there's also a mystery oil I'm wondering if anyone can identify. There was a clear yellow tube on the left side of the bike. I thought the mystery part was supposed to the connect to the clear yellow tube. However, before I realized the clear yellow tube was blocked, I tore the tube off the coupling. Can anyone identify what type of oil is in the tube? I marked with red the coupling the tube was ripped away from. The oil feels like motor oil but it looks gooey - like it's filled with gunk. It feels like the oil, whatever it is, shouldn't look like that. Many thanks again. Attachments:

The clear tube is used to catch oil residue from the crankcase via the breather hose on the valve head. Some remove the breather hose and route it into and oil catch can. You just need to drain the oil at every oil change. The problem with the one you have is that it comes from the air filter compartment and in time it soaks the air filter with oil causing a rich mixture due to the restriction from a soaked air cleaner. What I did was seal the clear tube off, put a new breather hose on the valve cover and have it run out the rear end of my scooter and I put a fuel filter on the end of the hose to filter any air running back into the hose. Most of the time the breather hose is under positive pressure so it only blows out a fine oil mist.

Its hard to remember exactly which ones go where but I think that the hose the is connected to the center cap is to vacuum port.
The other one is to be routed to the gas tank. On mine there is a nipple near the filler neck.
For the third hose, it connects to the breather box or air filter.
What this system does is like the charcoal canister on a car that captures the gas vapors from the tank and then recycled back into the engine when it is running. The center hose, when vacuum is applied, opens a valve inside and allows air to pass from the bottom and purge the gas out of the charcoal.
As far as the yellow hose, I don't know since I don't have one on mine.
