Hi, does your variator belt slip when the weather is really hot like +88'F.
Last week here in Finland was that hot. The whole week. It was exhausting. So I went to ride with my Jonway every day to cool me off.
But it felt like variator belt was slipping really much. I tested two different variator belt and both of them felt like slipping. Another one was brand new but some cheap chinese brand which slipped really much. And another was used Gates powerlink which was much more rubbery and it hold better but slipped a litte bit too.
My belt size is 918 - 22.5 - 30
Is that normal in hot weather? Does your belt slip at all in hot weather?
Today was only +59'F when I ride to work only 4 miles. It didn't feel slipping at that point. But when it was hotter it started to slip right after 0.5 miles.

it's been consistently 118f here in az, but my vbelt doesn't slip...nope... there are 4 reasons why vbelt slips: 1)not the right size belt(bigger) 2)full of dust 3) there's some oil in it 4) vbelt is torn or damaged. open your cvt assembly and investigate...hope it's not the main bearing seal, maybe leaking out some oil. mine even performs well in hot temps.

I opened it many times and it looks ok. I even cleaned front pulleys and clutch plates with break cleaner. As belt also. So nothing should slip. There were no oil leaks anywhere thank god. Not visible dust anywhere and vbelts were not torn. Hmm... could it be clutch pads? Maybe they are glazed or bell is too dusty. I test it a little bit more when I get out of work and let you know if it still slips. That reminds me the time when I had linhai cloned maxiscooter and I bought JCosta racing variator for that. Revs got really REALLY high right when you started to accelerate. Which made belt and clutch pads slip. Had to change it back to original variator and slipping disappeared. Week ago I put in my first Dr. Pulley sliders and acceleration got faster. That could also cause the slipping? Even thou Dr. Pulley sliders were nothing compared to JCosta variator. It was mad grazy arse variator I sanded glazed clutch pads but day after they were again slipping Not nice for daily scootering. Best for real racing. Maybe I should test this again with old rollers. Then I know if Dr. Pulleys cause this slipping. Somebody here are using a bit smaller belts like 906. Mine is 916 like stock belt. Hmm... Should I buy one 906? Hey all of you guys who own jonway yy250t or similar looking cfmoto engined scooter. What size of belt do you use?

I have the original Gates powerlink belt which is the same size as yours. I notice no slipping hot or cold. I am using Dr. Pulley 19 gram sliders.

Okay. Maybe it is clutch then which is slipping. I will try to sand clutchpads and bell a little. It is nice that cfmoto variator opens after 2 bolts

That's right Jalat, the CVT on this scoot is the easiest to work on. You already eliminated the belt and pulleys as a problem area, so the clutch is the next logical place to look at. You may find that the nut is sort of difficult to remove and may require heating first to soften the Chinese lock tite.

What you need to do if you think your belt is slipping is pick up a 2" wire brush which fits on your drill and scratch the inside of the bell. Then gently remove the slick feeling on the shoes. I had the same problem but it happened in the cold or hot weather. Mine had a squeak when I started off.
I have the same impact wrench as you do. It works fine for removing the variator nut and pulley nut. The best way I found to remove the pulley not is to set the impact wrench on it and squeeze the rear brake hard so the wheel doesn't move. If that doesn't work then you may need to apply heat to it as Cruiser said.

I did exactly what speedracer told. Scratched the inside of the bell and used sandpaper (100) for the clutch pads. It helped for the moment. I believe my clutchpads are a little bit too worn?
