Worn Clutch

Today I looked at the shoes on my clutch and I have less then a 1/4" left. Been looking around at clutches, but I am not sure if they come complete with springs and pulley.
Thanks

How many miles do usually clutch pads last? And do they start slipping more when they are worn much?

Hi Jalat. According to the Helix service manual, the minimum thickness that a clutch pad should be replaced at is 2.0 mm or .080 inches. Speed Racer's clutch has a lot of life left with 1/4 inch thickness.
Clutch life depends on how many stop and go cycles it is subjected to and how hard you accelerate and the load conditions on the scoot. In other words, if you drive easy and take lots of long rides instead of constant stop and go, the clutch will last longer. Because there are so many variables, there is no way of predicting how long a clutch will last. Visual inspections are necessary to see how much wear the clutch has left. By inspecting how a centrifugal clutch works, it would seem that the engagement speed would move to a higher rev as the clutch wears because there would not be as much clutch pad weight to overcome the clutch springs. However, as the engine speed increases, the clutch should act normally as long as there is enough friction material. So it would seem that the clutch will start slipping at the end of its service life.

Worn Clutch

When I said less the a 1/4" that was measuring the pad and what it is mounted on. There is not much pad left. 6500 miles on it now. I try to take care of things before it's too late. Most of my driving is around town with the exception of a few long rides. But for the most part it is stop and go, stop and go. Looking at the ebay clutch Jalat, I can tell you my clutch is really worn down compared to that one.
Cruiser I take it the both the honda and yahmaha clones use the same clutch? I will go with the complete clutch. Everything new including springs so it seems the easiest and best way for me to go.

The scooterpartsplace unit is listed as fitting both the CfMoto and Superstrada which is a Linhai scoot.
Scrappydog's unit is listed for a Vog which is also a Linhai scoot. Seems like a good price for a complete clutch.

About 1200 miles on each scoot. My wife wanted a BMW Z4 which I have to admit is almost as much fun as a scoot. It has been eating into my scoot riding time.

Talk about fast shipping. Ordered new complete clutch from Scrappydogs on Thursday and received it on Saturday. Definitely made right choice in ordering a complete new clutch. Everything new and assembled for installation. Old clutch was down to its last few miles, and after putting on new clutch I feel like I have a new scooter. Grabs right away for faster take offs.
