that scooter has the factory carb with no mods , it never gave me any proformance trouble , it only has 2200 clicks .
what I did find the muffler mounts are welded to the side of the muffler and were broken for the last few hundred clicke and there was an exaust leak from where the muffler bracket broke from the body of the muffler .

I have never heard of a muffler leak causing a melt down, however a leak at the engine header pipe certainly will...
But you never know...

Just for the record this will be my first rebuild .

Torque the nuts down to 13-15 foot pounds. (some manuals are different)
Be sure to tighten the nuts down in two steps using a crisscross pattern. Be sure to lubricate the rocker arms before assembly.

Maybe, did you use a torque wrench or guess?

Well if you think you have them too tight back them off very slightly...or re-torque them...
They should be fine...

well the weather cleared up this morning , I went for a ride a soft one . changed the oil at my friends shop , plenty of alumium pieces , and broke the oil filter cap . called the wife and she brought me another one . I rode home , it feels like its lacking power , sounds different . I just don't have faith in this scooter anymore . I'm scared to take it to work in fear of getting stuck again .
