I took an old Pentium 3 heat sink and a really old Pentium1 fan from a really old CPU and came up with this with some thermal paste. Attachments:

well I just put this on today so I have not had time to drive it yet but the fan works I just hooked it up to the dash. My last CDI would keep cutting off causeing no spark when It would get hot so I just put this on to keep it cool I am not to sure if other people have this problem with a cdi but I dont feel like spending $65 more on a new one so I just stuck this on for fun

CDI which is dying can start problems when getting hot. Just like Brndnpnt said. But normal working cdi does not have problems when getting hot.

Brndnpnt, that is very cool! (no pun intended). It is innovative, creative, and aesthetically pleasing.
I hope you don't mind that I put the Doc's URL on there, I plan on moving this to memorable posts when everybody's had a chance to eyeball it. It's true that you may be keeping a bum CDI on life support by using that; one of the test's for a bad CDI is to wrap it in ice and see if it starts working again. However, if your scoot still ran a hot CDI after swapping them out that could just be characteristic for your bike. Also, it might make a CDI last longer. Further, your device could be used to keep any device cool. Oddly enough, I just lugged three old computers home from work we're not using anymore. I knew I did that for some reason ;D. Rich

Before moving it to memorable posts, let's wait to see if it actually works for him. Coolers are designed for metal on metal surfaces. This could very well end up INSULATING the device (a common problem with cpu coolers if you apply too much thermal grease, don't sit it right, etc.

One way to find out if its cooling or not, rent from the parts store an inferred therm the kind that the use to check tire temps during a race that will tell u if its working or not..

well, it seems to be working so far the fan runs nice and the fins are slightly worm to the touch so I am guessing it displacing heat. I will use something else to tie the fan down and two of the same screws thats just all i had at the time. :`( Thanks to everyone for looking at my pic Also the fan draws so little power that I hooked it up to the fuel gage light on the dash so that the fan turns on only when the bike is started.

RICH you can tell the guys at the shop that this is the guy with the Orange 260 and they will know who I am.
My bike was over at the shop getting some work done... I had a worn needle guide in my carb which was causing the needle to keep jumping out and making the bike run strange on top that I had a bad fuel pump and on top that I had a leek in my vacuum line.
Hope they don't mine me coming back in the future
grrrr
