I have a 50cc Chinese made TAOTAO. Ran great with no issues for the first 400 miles. Now, when I start in the morning I let it warm up a few seconds then take off. After 20 seconds of running it just dies. I then wait a few seconds then it cranks right back up. Once i get out of the driveway and give it throttle it lags. I open up the throttle then release. I repeat this over and over for about 30 to 45 seconds then this seems to clear up the lag issue. Starts running great again. Does this point to the auto-choke or perhaps, do i need to adjust the carb. I would imagine the "break in" period is just about up. Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't change the choke just check it .. it could be working fine... why waste the money?
The lines on 2007 and 2008 are poor after that model year they are much better and don't need replacing...

Could be anything... fuel flow, petcock, fuel filter plugged.. bad fuel lines, loose vacuum lines, bad plug, bad/loose boot, bad ignition coil, bad CDI, bad pick-up coil, failing stator, bad pick-up coil...
You need to check the fuel system first and if you have gas flow etc to the carb, then check the spark, to see how good that is and go from there.
Take off the air box and give it a try... spray around the intake elbow with water when it is running to see if the idle varies... could be a crack in the intake elbow etc...
