Sometime back this topic was discussed. At the time I was not yet riding and had no comments, but now I can comment.
Today, on one of my confidence rides I again left the neighborhood and went to where I have never gone before. Last week I took a short run on county roads and managed. Today I went on a busy road across our downtown to the post office. On the return I decided to ride on the US highway which is also our Main Street. This is a tourist highway in the summer and a cross country highway for hunters and snow birds. Sometimes quite congested.
So I decide to take a chance and ride it from the post office all the way to the east end of town and then turn up a state highway then turn off to my home. Not too long in distance, a couple miles, but still a real challenge for me. Next step in confidence will be other rides in and out of town.
I picked a lane and rode the distance at speed limit. Not a full, bumper to bumper, four lanes of traffic but plenty to worry about. No problems at all.
On this run I met several MC riders coming opposite. We all exchanged waves and head nods. So I can now say that we had a nice friendly greeting time between the Harley bunch and my rice burner scooter. I was told that once by a Harley bunch, but long before I bought a Chinese scooter.
This is a good highway to watch the MC groups passing through. They come in small and large groups and are apparently going to various MC camps and activities. We have at least one located at one time right in Cortez but now 10 miles east in Mancos area. We also have a lot of "Welcome riders" signs around here and there is one restaurant called Blondie's that specializes in riders atmosphere. I never ate there but I understand it is a good place. .

good story bob! personally ,i hate two wheelers who don't wave back ,,i experience this with crotch rocket riders and other scooterists too., but harley-ers are very nice, they are even the first one to wave. me, i always wave to every two wheeler i passed by,even to the riding lawnmower guy.

After reading your post Bobf I thought I'd keep an eye out for that type of snobbery. We went out for about a 25 mile scooter ride and saw eight big bikes and two scooters. Four of the big bikes (I can't say for sure they were Harleys but they sounded like it) refused to return my obvious wave. Two of them started to wave and then pulled their hand back when they saw we were on scooters. Two seriously scarey looking dudes on some seriously scarey looking choppers blew by us while one waved and one gave us the thumbs up....very cool. The scooters did a nerdy high five wave....also very cool. When I rode to work yesterday on my Vulcan I saw about a half dozen big bikes and they all waved. So I would love to say there's no big bike snobs around here, but apparently there's more than just a few. Rich

Well, for the most part, I don't have a problem. Most mc riders wave to me or return my wave. I would say 99 percent.
