pawn shops are a good source for a used big metric socket. i bought one size bigger than my set had for $3. I think it was a 21 maybe a 24 don't remember but was way less than a new socket at the auto parts store, and a 1/2 impact was $15-20, any way cheap. john

If a 17mm won't fit you might have a nut that has some distortion to it. If so you will need to file the sides till they are flat. To avoid this distortion it is best to use sockets or closed end (box end) wrenches. .
