there are several reasons why a scooter runs hot,, : the radiator might be clogged? / the impeller might be broken?/radiator leak?/ old coolant needs replacemet/ radiator heat sensor might be broken and giving false reading. see if there's leak on the radiator or cooling system lines. if it's an old scooter, you might want to consider flushing the radiator with radiator flush fluid,,can be bought at wallmart..

There is a radiator. It is under the body cover panel directly in front of the seat between where your feet sit. Use the key to open the locked cover on this panel to access the overflow tank. It should be 1/2 to 3/4's of the way full. To fill the radiator directly, open the seat. On the left side under the seat towards the back is a small panel held on by two screws. Under that is the radiator cap. The filler pipe should be full. Use a 50-50 mix of anti freeze (safe for aluminum) and water. Look thru the library section on how to rid your cooling system of air so that the coolant flows freely. Also check to see if your radiator fan is cycling on and off as it should. If all appears as it should it may be that the inside passages are gunked up and need to be flushed out. Or it could be that the thermostat is malfunctioning. The engine should be the Honda 244cc clone. If it is, there is a manual for the Honda Helix in the library section that shows the cooling system for your engine. scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cooling

Hi Jason. If you find that the cooling system is full, then a little more info might help us out. Does the cooling fan run and at what point on the temp guage does it come on? Does the cooling fan cycle on and off? Does the temp guage indicate a overheat condition while idling or does it do it while cruising down the road? Under what driving conditions does it overheat - cruising at high speed or any time you are riding? How high up on the temp guage do you see?

HI JASON WHEN YOU ADD COOLANT TO YOUR SCOOTER , ONLY ADD IT WHERE THE COOLANT TANK
IS LOCATED ,, YOU CAN LET COOLANT OUT AND START SLOWLY , KEEP POURING COOLANT AS THE
TANK NEEDS IT THIS WILL TAKE CARE OF ANY AIR BUBBLES ,, FILL AS REQUIRED AND DO NOT ADD ANY
FROM RADIATOR HOSE CAP LOCATED NEAR BATT COMP. TEMP SHOULD IMPROVE WITH NO AIR
BUBBLES. IF STILL RUNNING HOT GO TO WALMART AUTO SECT. AND GET A 16 OZ BTL OF HY-PER
LUBE USE AS DIRECTED,,, NO MORE NO LESS THIS SHOUDL LOWER YOUR TEMP MY 20 DEG.
WORKS ON MY 250CC

Radiator may be plugged up with the crappy coolant the factory puts in these,,,we had a run of a few scooters with this exact problem a few years ago,,,pull the radiator and flush it out,,,you may find it has gelled coolant,,,one member actually found a rag stuffed in one of the hoses
