I have a roketa bali 150cc.
One day it just went dead. I bought a new battery and was screwing in the terminals to the battery and it started on its own. There are sparks when I am screwing the terminal in. When I used the kill switch it doesn't shut down it stays on. Calling a few 800 numbers they recommended a new CDI - bought one and it wasn't the problem. Still have to start by screwing the terminals in the battery(wires and screw get warm) A local shop said to unplug the solenoid and see if it starts or not. Tried that-same problem. Any thoughts or ideas from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks

It sounds like you hooked the Positive wire from the battery to the the wrong terminal on the Solenoid. That would feed the Starter direct current all the time. Here is your Solenoid, that is the one that is controlled by the Start Button. Try switching the wires on the Solenoid. Alleyoop

Definately try what Alley suggested and see what happens. I'm a little confused as to what is occuring. When you touch the battery cable to the battery the starter engages, the engine starts, and then the starter disengages on it's own even though the cable is still attached? I'm going to have to go with it's possessed. If there's a short from the battery to the starter, I just don't see how the starter would disengage. Is that what is happening? Rich

I'll be doggone - switched the terminals on the solenoid like you said and it started right up. Still confused on why that was the case because it has been working for a good 10 months just fine and one day it started sputtering to start and then when I hit the kill switch it acted like it didn't want to shut off but finally did. Then it just went dead. Thats when I got a new battery and it would start when I was screwing in the terminal to the battery. Horn, turn signals and flashers also work now and they didn't before. Still confused but it seems like I am back in business - THANKS A BUNCH!!!!

Alley.. rocks again... good call! You know I have seen batteries that have been charged backwards...I wonder if the original battery was actually backwards and the scooter was wired to compensate...

I'm back - the owner of the possessed roketa 150 bali. Ever since I switched the solenoid terminals to the battery it started right up for the first 3-4 times. Since then it wouldn't start right up and eventually would. It has gotten progressively worse to start up(meaning it would start up eventually but not right away). Now it is not starting up at all - horn, turn signals etc... work but NOTHING happens when I press the start button. When it did eventually start up I would have to squeeze the brake and let go and keep doing that until it started. Now it does nothing. Any thoughts on this one??

Have you checked your starter motor itself yet ? Does the starter click or turnover ? Might not hurt to check it so it can be ruled out. The outer body of the starter motor is grounded by the engine . One must always use one of the brakes to start . Thats how it is on my roketa . Battery ? check your connections at the cables where they come in from the frame. The green wire is always grounded on the engine ( how its on mine) from the negitive on my battery. How many red wires do you have for the positive ?

Sounds like you have a an intermittent brake switch...try the one on the other side...
Perhaps the new battery was charged backwards? This would explain the solenoid problem...
