COOL!! remember check the GEARS especially the little one I pointed out that is on the Actual Starter. That would probably be the one that the gears would be trashed. But if all the gears look good then just take the BENDIX out and Clean it up and see if you can work the Gear that moves out. To check if it moves out turn it CLOCKWISE that is the way it turns to turn the Variator FACE PLATE COUNTER CLOCKWISE to start the engine.
Then you can put it back in and see if works. Alleyoop

After a long crappy day the last thing I wanted to do is work on the scoot, but the sun is about to set and so its not blazing hot out and I decided to get the cover off and take a look. First I decided to try to start it for the hell of it (first time starting it since I charged up the battery and put it in) It started on a dime perfectly within one second and without even having to give it any gas as I stared it. I said screw it I need to go for a ride ( hadn't been out on it in 48hrs) compared to the " out on it 4x a day " that I'm used to so I was going for withdrawls. Got back decided I'd work on it tomorrow or something. I know the battery is just a temp fix, it must be getting just that much more power to crank over the testy gears. Last time I had this issue and I put a new battery in it fixed it but only temporary. So basicly I'm not going to post back until I either have a question/problem or have completed checking out the bendix/gears or completed replacing the petcock and will let ya know how it goes Have a great rest of the week guys

since it started, the bendix gears are not your problem.

It could still be the Bendix just needing a cleaning from a the belt dust flying around in the cvt. I think the fully charged battery was enough power to spin the bendix fast enough to throw out the bendix gear. Alleyoop

From the looks of her scooter, there are a lot of body parts that have to be removed, in order to start removing side covers.

Panels do not have to come off to take the CVT cover off and check inside the CVT. Alleyoop

I don't see a photo of the left side of scooter (the cvt side). I agree with alley, she should not need to remove body panels to open up the cvt.

I agree 100%. I've gotta get in there to check/clean it and also still replace the petcock, ive been procrastinating like crazy. Yesterday it ran perfect, today I had to give it some gas to the fuel line so the petcock started acting up again meaning I'm def going to have to replace it... hmm... maybe Monday Thanks for your input dr jeff

Ok, so it wouldn't start this morning, sounded like the same bendix issue, so I went to take the cover off and .... Gatekeeper thanks, that was very helpful. I got the bolts off and ya it was stuck on there tight. I don't have a rubber hammer so I made one. I taped the rim of a condom to a hammer to make a " rubber hammer" Sounds silly but seriously I thought it may work and at least I'm creative and it did kinda work as a rubber hammer but as I tapped around it still didn't loosen it but using the flat head screw driver to pry did Thanks! I got in there, and took this video. Sorry its kinda long and there is a delay in there when I had to put the camera down to strap my hair tie to the brake handle to hold it in so I could start it w/ one hand and hold the camera with the other. 1) Should I leave that goopy stuff on the teeth on the inside of the cover by the kick start? 2) Should I clean out the inside of the cover? Its greasy w/ a dirty film. 3) I don't see the little starter gear? Could it be elsewhere? 4) Should the bendix pull right out and off like that? 5) I couldn't manually turn it to the right and make it pop out but when I hit the starter it would. Does that mean something is wrong with it? 6) It seems like the starter makes it catch the gears but it still doesn't want to turn over. Is there an issue elsewhere? Should I pull the bendix out and clean it either way? Do I need to oil it too or is just cleaning it good? If I need to oil it what kind of oil should I use? I don't have WD40 but I have gear oil, engine oil, olive oil and mineral oil. LOL. I only started the scooter about 5 times since I charged it ( used it 1.5 days) before this issue started happening again. So I can't imagine I already wore the battery down again. Each time I tried to start it, it started right away until this morning. I tried twice this morning and stopped because I didn't want run the battery down. Thanks for your help guys. I'm working against the sun which is about to take up the little bit of shade I have left so I turned my scooters arse to the shade and am going to work on taking the faring off to get to the petcock to replace it for now

BUMMER!! Sorry to say it is NOT the Bendix. Are you sure the Spark Plug is in nice and snuge? Do this try turning the Variator the one with the White Fins on it with your hands COUNTER CLOCKWISE. It should turn then it should be hard to turn like something is stopping it. What I am trying to find out is if you have COMPRESSION or not. That is why I ask if the Spark Plug is nice and snuge on the motor.
If you can FREELY JUST turn the Variator Fan which turns the Crankshaft which moves the Pistion up and Down then there is very little compression. So in that case check the Spark Plug if it is loose. Alleyoop

I just got the tank out, wow that was a lot of nuts and bolts to remove. At least I can replace it in the comfort of my AC'd apartment. The cap on the spark plug is not snug against the thing, the houseing? what do u call it? LOL. I can't seem to get it snugg. I don't know why. I press and press and it won't go on tight. I will check the variator, the compression and work on the spark issue in a bit. First I want to replace the petcock, get the arse of my scooter back together so there IS gas to make it even work Then I'll work on those issues. Should I clean the inside of cover to the bendix out while I have it off? It has a greasy/dirty film inside it. I'm guessing the goopy greasy stuff on the kick stand teeth is supposed to be there though right? the Thanks for your help I'll post again after the arse is back together which will prob be later today since I'm taking a break from the direct sunlight now.

I have to compliment your on your ingenuity of the "rubber hammer", good thinking. 1) The goopy stuff is grease, a little bit on the gears is good a lot is bad. 2) It's probably not necessary to clean it out, but since you got it open might as well. 3) The little starter gear is behind part of the gasket. Here is a photo of mine. With the bendix removed. I used a razor knife to remove some of the gasket so you can see the gear. 4) Yes the bendix will come out like that. You will need to finesse it a little. It will be easier if you trim the gasket off first. Sorry I have to go. But will answer the rest of your questions later. hope this helped a little. Roy

Thanks Royldoc. Yes that helped. I see, the starter gear is kinda like behind the bendix almost. I think I may have found the issue with the petcock. Since it is a seperate issue from this one and already a whole other thread about it I'm going to link back to that thread to keep that problem there and this one here: Petcock Issue & Possible Culprit Found: www.scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=150cc&thread=4761&page=17
