some one has their figures mixed up. if the gas scooter was less to operate compared to one on electricity then should it not be cheaper to make your own electricity using a gas generator? john

I'm not sure how those guys figured the driving cost, seems like they were throwing in the kitchen sink. After reading up on the Nissan Leaf I learned that the electricity costs to power a plug in vehicle are much less than gas costs for a conventional vehicle. The problem is this thing is too heavy, ugly, and it's expensive to buy:

the way i look at it is I would buy if the cost was in line with gas power and if it could run on the high way for a reasonable distance...50 miles at 55..as far as looks if people can stand to buy a rukus....john

No good, Speed and distance are a limitation, go for a 25 ride and try to make it back, for $5,000.00 get a YUGO(HAHA).

Alley...............I had a yugo............65k almost totally trouble free......then I traded it for labor on my new house. a 1000% more trouble free than the malibu I am driving today! john

And what is the cost of batteries and what is their life cycle? When it all comes down to it I really believe a scooter can be modified to run on panther pee, propane, water whatever has hydrogen in it and if you dont have electricity available too bad.LOL just had an image of pulling a trailer with a wood burner on it making steam. I believe that it will be a very long time before any total electric vehicle will be efficient enough for anyone to use for basic transportation. I you only want it for back and forth to the grocery, they might be ok, but the cost is totally prohibitive.
