OK, I rode home and I have to add a couple things to my list. First of all it accellerates better than what I thought this morning. It zoomed right up to 65 MPH in traffic on the crazy road home. I guess I was being conservative with the go handle this morning. The ABS works great in that there's not A CHANCE IN HELL you could lock the brakes up! The brakes work adequately but you don't want to do any tailgating. Last, I stopped and filled up on the way home because the LCD gas gauge was down to one bar. The bike only took two gallons on the centerstand. Really? Just two gallons on a touring scooter? Maybe the gauge is hinky and there was a lot of gas left, I don't know, I'm going to check the specs in the manual today. Rich

Somebody I know changed the oil after every ride on his GY6 until it was broken in. He noted that the engine got looser every mile. The Chinese seem to build them tight and they get better and better with time. At about 6,000 miles mine is a completely different animal than it was at 600.

Well it definately felt quicker on the way home. Maybe it'll turn into a tire smoker in a couple more commutes. I checked the specs on the gas tank, it's 12L which is a touch over 3 gallons. Apparently I had a lot of gas left at one bar on the gauge. The manual says at the "red" bar you have 2.5L or .6 gallon. I was still on a green bar so I guess I had one more bar to go past that which explains the tank only taking 2 gallons. At 3 gallons and I'm guessing about 70 MPG that's over 200 miles on a tank, not too shabby. Rich

...once broken in you should get in the mid 80'sMPG...
and I dare say... I bet it was the most comfortable 42 miles you ever put on a scoot.
I sent one out to my brother in Tucson and he reports that his runs like a charm...even in the 115 degree heat. He rides it to work daily. His other ride is a Goldwing.

Yep, it may be the most comfortable two wheel vehicle I've ever been on. It's probably a combination of good design and good luck that it fits my frame. I really like the nimble feel of it yet highway speeds are totally doable. I do think a backrest would improve things for me, I'm going to look into some aftermarket things after I put a few more miles on it. Rich

... had a guy come in the shop on Saturday. He wanted something "that would do 70-75mph sustained, around $1500, with a warranty."
I suggested a Greyhound bus pass.

I've had a few inquiries about how the Fashion was working out so I thought I'd just post an update here. I rode in the dark for the first time on the commute home from work Monday night after the time change and I gotta say the headlight worked great. The highbeam actually brought a few flashes from oncoming vehicles to lower my beam, I sure didn't expect that with a Chinese scoot. This thing is getting faster too, I was popping 70 MPH with the GPS without even trying, I've actually been trying to hold the speed down for the break in. I'm approaching the 500 mile mark which will be the first service job, kinda looking forward to it. If I get to ride Friday to work like I'm planning I'll have to do that this weekend.....OH DARN! Well this is the Pics & Vids board so I thought I should include a couple to justify my gibbering on about the Fashion. I mounted the Tom Tom with velcro tape:
And you can see on the odometer I'm nearing the first service at 500 miles:
If I ride it again to work with the 80 mile commute I'll go over 500 so I might just buzz around Chelsea till I'm at 500.
I rode to work Monday with a 10% chance of rain, big deal, they say that all the time to cover their butts. Well by the time I rode home at 5 PM that 10 had added a zero. It poured all the way home and I gotta tell you this scooter performed like a champ. I stayed pretty dry behind that fugly fairing except for the top of my helmet. I was worried about stability on the wet roads but I just kept it at 60 MPH all the way home and never felt like the bike was surfing. I know some of the electricals had to get soaked but the engine never missed a beat. This thing continues to impress me everytime I ride it and now the wife says she wants one too! cul. Rich

ummm... that 500 mile oil change is a "rule of thumb"....it's not like the thing detonates at 501.5 ! LOL you mean its not like a BMW? Friends father pushed the bmw oil change reminder and ended up sitting along the road. Seems BMW has the computer programed to shut her down if the oil is not changed within a mileage grace space.Of course the old guy, 86 years old, was in the middle of no where when it happened. rofl

one of the things that continually gets my goat is those self professed "know it alls" that keep trying to tell us all......... a scooter with those little wheels can't ride or handle good! ........guess they have never rode a helix or its clone with its "tiny" 10" rear wheel! I'll take the extra storage under the seat any day. and the ones who try to drive it in the most it seems are those who are looking for a 50cc with 16" wheels that so many states limit to 30mph!
they land and take off in small airplanes on grass strips and all kinds of runways with 6" wheels and have been doing it for 70 years or more. the first vespas were built using airplane tires and rims.

That's much better than the old days. You used to see one of the barrels fall off when the oil limit had passed.

""Seems BMW has the computer programed to shut her down if the oil is not changed within a mileage grace space.""
And you also have to buy the oil from BMW cause as you start to put it in it senses that it is not BMW oil and a valve comes out and shuts off the oil inlet. ;D Alleyoop
