My son has a sym jet 50 euro x which has developed a fault. a few days ago it died on him so i looked at the usual suspects and changed the plug and cap, the fuel filter and cleaned the carb. It was very difficult to start but when warmed up, it responded ok to the throttle. A few hours later, i had the same starting problem and found that if i warmed the plug first, it would start but struggle to keep going at first. I suspected the automatic choke but after testing it and connecting it directly to the battery have found nothing wrong with it. Anyone with any ideas?

Adjust the valve gaps.. on a 50cc they should both be set to .003 INCH.
The enricher is extending in about 3 minutes?

A two stroke eh? A very nice one too! I love the Sym manuals, they're put together as nice as the bikes are. Here's the service manual for your son's scooter. If you haven't seen this tome there's an extensive troubleshooting flow chart on hard starting. They seem to feel that spark problems are a likely culprit. I hope this helps, Rich
