I thought I would post my last few project on here. Some have gone, some have stayed, all were enjoyable. My latest, 1980 Puch Maxi, was trashed when I got it, paid $150 and have put another $25 into it along with a lot of elbow grease This was my last Tomos, put it together with the parts from seven bikes. Sold it to a kid in Columbus and he uses it around the Ohio State campus, gets lots of compliments This Blue Tomos, I also put together out of parts and traded it for my Honda MB5 Next is my Honda MB5. Very rare in the states, only sold one year and that was 1982. Street legal 50cc with a 5 speed transmission. Redlines at 10,500 rpm and very quick. Before and after picture. I need to buy a new set of decals for the tank. Finally my 1980 Honda Express. This started it all with mopeds for me. Had one when I was a kid and enjoyed it, so bought one and fixed it up, my kids enjoyed the hell out of it.

Man, you are GOOD! That is world class work and fantastic pics. I love those type of bikes, they stir some weird mixture of childhood and adult nostalgia all in one. We'll leave this in general discussion so everybody gets a chance to look at it and then I'll move to the pics and vids board if it's OK with you. Thanks for taking the time to do a great post.

You sure you don't want a job?
I just got a call today asking if we'd look at a moped "that's sat for 5 years"!
If you like, I'd be glad to refer them to you.

Those are Beautiful!!!!!! Now where were ya when I was looking for a Tomos? Still looking BTW (Hint, Hint) That MB5 is a real nice restoration but, That little Express is just as nice ( love the baby blue) IMO. Nice to see someone knows the difference between a Moped and a Scooter. Even though the law says different. Keep up the great work!!! BTW if ya ever come across another LX or Targa for sale let a Doc know

Thanks for all the kind words. They are a lot of fun, easy to fix and you can find them cheap. Actually working on one now. Bought one in rough shape for $150 and got it running. Found a guy that has one tore apart that he can't put back together and we may trade. His is in much better shape and has performance parts. I will keep everyone posted.
Cookees, I will send you a PM

I found one in Houston Pa. for a friend last month. It was a 1980 Puch Pinto. It was bought new for this guys wife and she put 34 miles on it, decided she did not like it and he parked it in his basement for 30 years. The basement was wet and the rims rotted through as did the tires. The gas turned to varnish and the motor siezed. We took the head off and it was like brand new inside. He paid $40 for it and sold the motor for $120 after it was unsiezed. Five years is nothing.

Absolutely beautiful work! There is a fellow here in my town, in Indiana, who rides one of those MB5's. The police constantly hassel him about it, because of the tranny. His is pretty fast, too. It'll run about 45 or 50 mph. His doesn't look nearly as good as yours does, though. He's painted his red and black, with a brush, of all things, but it runs really well. The gas tank on his is rusted out so he fastened a plastic tank onto the handle bars. I see that as a death trap!

Despite how Rich finds his...whatever, I find most mopeds on Craigslist. A non running moped will usually go for 100-150 but I have paid 50-80 before. The green one I paid $50 as a package deal(150 for all 3). You can usually get them rebuilt totally in about a month depending on how much detail work you want to do and what is wrong with the bike. Here is the green ones sister, still not done with a few things left to do.
