Welcome to Scooter Doc Forum scooter12, very nice pair of bikes you have for the two of you. My Dad was from Mountain Grove, is that anywhere near you? If you need any help with your scoot just post a question in the Clinic and if you need any help getting around the forum just send me a PM. Have fun, Rich

Those must be interesting rides together. My wife goes incredibly fast on her Rebel. I just sold my bigger motorcycle and bought a 250 too. I'm guessing I'll have to ask her to take it down a notch-or two.

Ya, her bike would smoke my scoot.. Hers has 2 cyllenders making it running cooler. Mine has 1 cyllender runs hotter but is the honda Helix clone engine. Mine will top out at around 70 mph and her Rebel will top out at around 85 mph..

Hey scooter12, I'm running a Helix clone too in a CF Moto Fashion. On a cool calm night on totally flat road I swear the GPS read 76 MPH before I started up a hill. The scoot does regularly hit 71 or 72 but I've only seen the 76 once.....at least I think I did, I'm starting to doubt myself. I haven't been able to duplicate the conditions again and the GPS is a smallish Tom Tom, I could have read it wrong. I told Cookees, the dealer I bought it from, and he thought I was getting into the whacky tabacky. In the meantime, I'm happy with 72 but the sweet spot is 65. Rich

Bashan, Ya, I have had mine up to 76 mph too. But that was when it was new.. Now that parts are a little worn in, well it goes 70 mph..If I changed the clutch, belt, roller weights.. it would do that speed again. It really rides alot smoother at 60 to 65 mph verses 70 to 75 mph.. I personally think pushing the scooter to go faster, will ruin it faster too. I want the scooter to last along time and the best way to do this, is watching the heat gauge and not let overheat, don't push the scooter to perform at max speed but instead ride on 3/4th throttle verses full throttle..

Well thanks scooter12 for letting me know you hit 76 too, at least I know I wasn't imagining that. Yeah, I'm not a WOT guy either, I mainly hit that 76 when I wasn't paying attention to the throttle for a couple minutes. My Fashion has been great about the running temp. However, I've got a CF Moto Pegasus that had a little heating problem. I flushed the cooling system and replaced it with Prestone 50/50 and added Wetter Water. I haven't had any trouble since. Have you tried something like that? Rich

Water Wetter is an additive that makes regular coolant much more effective:

The stuff I used last time was yellow so apparently I got something else at Wal-Mart, but it still worked great. The idea is that it allows the molecules of the coolant to get into much smaller spaces increasing the coolant surface area. Rich

Since Ii don't have water cooled(YET) i will comment. Had a mustang that had cooling problems probably due to the mild,LOL engine work I did. At that time we had to buy the racing version, the stuff U use was not available then any way. Solved my cooling problems PRONTO. Use the stuff its great!

The only bad thing about hitting 76 mph, was the speedo could still be off. Need an actual GPS to tell acuracy...

The speedo on the Fashion is 5 MPH generous. At 65 on the GPS it's 70 on the scooter's speedo. The Motorino is also 5 generous and the wife's Bashan is 15 generous . I don't know where the hell the speedometer is for my Bashan:
