Well I am thinking aboout changing my fluids...well the scoots anyway, and I have been reading and finding many different variations. So what is a good CVT fluid and oil to use?

You'll get a gazillion different opinions, but I feel that conventional works just fine. In fact, more than a few dealers feel that synthetic is too thin and slippery and can cause leaks. Further, since there is no oil filter and you must change your fluids so often, expensive synthetics are a waste. Gear oil, aka CVT, 80W-90 is fine, 85W-90 in hotter climates. Engine oil, 10W-30 or 10W-40 in hotter climates. OK, now everybody dissent. I've logged quite a few miles with those fluids and none of my scoots use any oil. By the way, har on the joke, I didn't miss it. Rich

No dissention here! You are right on. I do like to use synthetics after the motor has been broken in good but you're probably right about it being overkill. Especially since I change my oil a LOT! Can't hurt and it takes so little, :-)

For our Chinese bike customers (in their scooters), we use 15W 40 Diesel oil (Shell Rotella or Castrol) - we buy it in the gallon container. It seems to hold up well here in sunny southern Cali, and in these hot running scoots. For our ceramic cylinder lined SYM bikes, we use a Valvoline 10W30 racing oil (high zinc content) for the break in, and then Mobil 1 extended wear synthetic. These are very cool running bikes, so the oil doesn't need to be so thick, and we get better gas mileage with it. For gear oil we use valvoline syn-blend 85w90 in the handy sqeeze bottle.

Two dealers, two varied, and valid, opinions, so you see where we're going here. Rich
