myself, a friend, and my dog took a ride to a town 20 miles away tonight in my malibu. scratch one chevy. the damn transmission died. going to be mon. the way it looks just to talk with some one about the trans. low and reverse are gone. not a happy camper. too cold this time of year to depend on a scooter to get groceries. i left the car and was able to wedge my 130lb dog in the back seat of a friends pu. think i have already spent more on that chevy than any 5 other cars i have ever owned for repairs. john

If it's as cold in Arkansas as it is in 'Bama right now it's colder than a witch's bean bag. I was just thinking of taking the Fashion out to stir up the fluids and wussed out. What year was that Malibu John? Might be time to trade her in for one that runs on unleaded. Rich

just for the record I will probably get an price when the transmission shops open next week. it is a 2001 malibu. I have had it 6 years. looks great but I could go on for an hour on all the little things that are not right. I wish the gov would have let gm go down the tubes where they belong. all I can say is my next chevy or gm product is either going to be free or close to that. don't like pu trucks as they are not comfortable for me unless they have the back seat where you can tip the drivers seat back and users bring premium prices. I need some thing that I can tow a boat trailer and have a bit more room inside. been thinking about getting a e series ford, they got a super good record for holding up. I don't go far anymore so miles per gallon are not super important. its about 45 outside now, think I will go out and start some scooters too, no ride but just stir up their blood. john

The car is going to get repaired. Against better judgement I decided to go ahead and get it fixed. I can't replace it for the cost of a transmission. I try to take care of my vehicles as best any one can, this one just had a set of new tires put on in nov. is garage kept, with a wash/wax/detail would look close to new at 11 years old. I have spent more fixing this malibu than I have on the worst 5 other cars I have ever owned. john

I got my car back the other day and it drives like new again. wonder how long it will last this time. I put a hundred miles on it tonight and it appears to be getting decent mileage again. Feels nice to have a car again even if it is a chevy. I think I could go for a long time with out a car if I had to being the proud owner of 3 scooters.

I had Chrysler's front wheel drive A604 Transmission later renamed the 41TE commonly used in its minivans has proven to be one of the most unreliable transmissions ever made.
I put in this stuff and it gave me no trouble for almost 100,000 miles until I sold the van running. I bought it with a rebuilt tranny and it had 140,000 miles; sold it with 240,000 miles. www.amazon.com/Lubeguard-60902-Lubegard-Automatic-Supplement/dp/B002NUS3YUI put it in all my automatics and it seems to work.

I have owned three Plymouth Voyagers. Two went 100,000 miles for me. This one only about 30,000-so far. It's a 1997 and my wife used it to go 200 miles in the snow this past weekend. My dad's owned three also. All needed tranny work, one a valve and seal job. There's no accounting for luck or longevity with them. Sort of like Chinese scooters.

The last Chrysler I owned was a push button drive and it worked fine for the year I owned it. I have never tried to avoid another but there was always some thing else that was a good deal to buy. In 79 I bought a new pickup and got quotes for the big 3, ford, dodge, and gmc. the ford and gmc were similar priced and the dodge dealer would not come down with his price. had I bought the ford I might still have it, as they were dipped for rust bodies and the gmc was so rusted after 10 years I had to just about give it away. The body was falling off the frame and I paid extra for bogus rust proofing! john

I think it was a 57, a chrysler and had a big v8. I bought it used from a guy at work, he inherited it from his father. I was short of cash then and it was cheep but needed an exhaust so I got a bucket full of pipe, clamps, and fittings from warshawski's down on state street stuck them all together with out a muffler. it wasn't all that loud either. I traded it in on a small car about a year later. Never did even try any buttons on the shift other than R/N/F No park on them, you had to use the parking brake. All and all it was a good car. john

one day in the parking lot there I missed out on a great deal for a rolex, a black guy came running up to say the cops were chasing him and he had this rolex and only wanted $10 for it and I was broke!

HAHAHA!! Yea it was a bitch to find a parking space around there sometimes I had to park a block or two away.
Also I used to go just down the street into china town and get FireWorks. I knew who sold them and would walk in and they knew me and they would walk in the back for the stuff(HEHE).
One time I took my two boys down there to get fireworks they were little 4 and 7 and we are walking and the Dudes are in the doorways and my boys never seen anyone like that and as we were walking they were stareing and there heads were looking back I told them do not stare at them(HEHE). Alleyoop
