It has been cold around here and my trike is in the garage and it is an attached garage not heated but it is not freezing in there.
Well I just went out and started it to get things moving through it like I always do about once a week and let it warm up for about 15 minutes or so.
It cranked right up pulling up the Enricher(MANUAL) choke I have on it and as it warmns I start to close off the Enricher. Well it was running rather ragged missing and wanting to die without giving it a little throttle. But I noticed even giving it a little throttle it was missing. I took the access panel off and brought up the idle and that did not help Which I knew it wouldn't because that is as if your twisting the throttle. But I wanted it to idle higher to check the Fuel Ratio.
I got my screwdriver and As I turned it Counter Clockwise the RPMS started to rise I turned it out about 2 full turns and the motor jumped up to 2000 rpms and running smooth as silk. I then turned down the Idle back to around 1500-1600 rpms.
So in case your scoot starts to run ragged and missing and wanted to die it could be due to outside temp changes and it is running to LEAN when the Temps Drop.
Now the opposite could also happen when the Temp changes from Cold to Warm, In this case it may be running to RICH. Alleyoop

Al , get the Gerbings and go for a ride , just watch the voltage . You got a big stator in there Al you will be very surprised at how warm it will be . If your worried about power put an extra battery in the top case . Man I would not let the cold hold me back . They sell the hybred jacket gloves . John

yeah was just looking at them, almost 400$ for a jacket and almost 300 for the pants, thats not including the liners, but the outer ware would suffice without the liners.

Well it is not so much the COLD, I have a JUMPSUIT that you just step into with all your street cloths on it is warm as crap zips on the bottom of the legs up halfway up your calf and zips in front. The problem around here is what they call black ice, it looks like it is dry but it is actually a thin layer of moisture turned into solid piece of ice and it will send you flying if you happen to hit it at a wrong angle. So I do not ride when it is 32 or lower or windy it is just not fun. Alleyoop

yeah black ice is no fun. i was in indiana backing out of a 50ft driveway. as soon as we started to back up we seen a car coming in the road, so we decided to stop so we didnt slide. we still slid, all 50ft of the driveway, out into the highway was at the end of the driveway. the guy in the car seen us sliding so he was able to stop and keep traffic from hitting us lol. nice guy... hey mike, we need to start a new thread titled " warm weather running " and talk about all of the gear we DONT need to ride, and how we have to deal with the opposite of black ice, black top! sound like a good idea? ohh look the temps in the upper 70s today, time for a ride, be back later.
edit: if i cant walk outside half naked without my nipps gettn hard, then its TOO COLD!

Raining like hell here in Arkansas. Watch Jerry Springer all day I guess ha-ha. I'm getting too old for that cold weather riding I guess.

Supposed to be a high of 80 today. A shame the Matrix isn't roadworthy at the moment. I'm missing out on the good riding season!!
EDIT: Oh and I've definitely experienced the joy of black ice growing up in Michigan. Seem to recall a trip to school where my older brother may have been driving a little too fast (even though the roads were clear) and we we hit a patch of black ice, fish-tailed a few times... taking out a sign on the left side of the road and ending up in the ditch on the right side.

Yuppers on the black ice....nasty stuff. BC your right about the nice weather we got and lucky us to ride year around. I am on may now, at the airport heading for colder weather to visit family nad say good by to my best friend and well I call him my brother, sure hate to see him go. As for Ally I think that rabbit loves that cold weather or he would have moved to Florida
