Hi guys
I have just done a gearbox service on my scoot and found that the final gear set is a 13x40 set up.
what sort of gain could I see if I swapped them out for a 15x38?

You can achieve the same results with weights or sliders. Really, most scooters are maxed out in the rear gear train.. the only way to get benefit is with more power... a BBK...
Then up gearing makes a difference...

hi sprocket,
I've added a 150cc bbk to the bike already and swapped out the main jet from a 108 to a 110 ive got a gates powrlink 835 belt and in the variator there's 3x 10.9g and 3x 14g rollers it gives me a decent take off speed but i feel like the engine can certainly give a little more which is why i thought about the final gearing. i'd initially like to run at about 3/4 throttle and keep the 60mph top speed that it gives me without overstressing the engine itself

The only way to know for certain is to change the rear gears and try it.. but the job requires a press to do it...
If you are getting 60mph out of it then you are maxing out.. doubt it will do what you want...

If you your current gears are 13/40 and you put in 15/38 gears it should reach your 60MPH at a much lower rpms if that is what your looking for. But it depends what your current top end speed is. Alleyoop
