I recently changed my wifes coil from a standard to a high performance.Since then,we have blown two head lights on her lance vintage.Would the new coil be responsable for this?

Seems like the coil is at the end of the train and far removed from the headlights. But I will say that's a heck of a coincidence. Could you have exposed a wire or something while working in there? Rich

I would also check the regulator. Check the voltage at the battery while revving the bike - if the regulator is not regulating properly your voltage will be high - 15 to 18+ volts - first go the lights, then battery and fuses... blown fuses= short

I spliced the wires befor the reulator.I bet you hit the nail on the head. I will take a pic tomorrow.Funny thing thow,I didnt change anything on the headlight unless splicing the radio hot wire befor the regulator would cause a surge. I happens when I turn the key off to shut the scooter down.
