Borrowed a multimeter and a Schumaker battery charger from my dad...
Upon initial check the battery had 5v. Not totally dead, but obviously, way too low.
Battery charger is hooked up now. Going to check progress using the multimeter after I let it run a bit. I'll report back on how it goes.

if you decide to go with purchasing a new battery, i would reccoment a 9 amp battery as that is the largest battery you can fit in that little battery box and still close the lid. if you want a cheap one i guess scrappys is the way to go, but if you want a new battery and dont want to wait for it, wally world has them at a decent price.

The battery seems to have charged back up fine! The scoot is starting right up with the electric starter and running well. As I mentioned before, when I first checked the battery, it showed about 5v on my voltmeter. I hooked up a Schumaker 10-amp charger for about for about 90 minutes. My dad (an experienced motorcycle rider) assured me that 10 amps wouldn't fry my battery as long as I set the charger on "full auto" mode, which would make it work like a trickle charger. I looked up the manual for the charger online to confirm this. After about 90 minutes on the charger, I disconnected it, and the battery voltage tested about 12.8v! I let it sit overnight, and the next day, the batt was still showing about 12.6v! All of this was done without disconnecting the batt from the scoot, so I know nothing is draining it. The next day it was 65 degrees out (crazy warm for New England in early March) and I had an awesome day riding my scoot Thanks for the help guys!

I think you lucked out by charging that battery hooked up in the scoot, this time. Hope your luck continues to hold out. I never charge a battery that is connected to the vehicle. Tried that one time when I was working for a chrysler/Plymouth dealership, when I was 17 years od. The owner of the dealership had a coniption fit when he saw what I was doing! Told me to "get that da#$ed battery disconnected and check the water in it and charge it right, or it's out the door for you!" Lesson learned very quickly! BTW. I'm 72 years old not!

Maybe I lucked out, or maybe the technologies have changed.
My battery is sealed (no need to check/add water) so that may make a difference.

Yea now they check it while in the car and charge it sitting there, they did that to my 2001 caddy. Just think how you jump a car same thing with a Charger I have done it many times. You do not need to disconnect anything. Alleyoop
