I bought a 25ah lead acid mower battery at Walmart last year for $39.. big and will not fit in the scooter battery box, but works just fine under the seat...just need to run a new RED wire
You can crank the scooter until the starter motor burns up... ;D

Yeah that should be OK.. if it is 1.5 amps.. it is hard to read the label...
If a battery is dead and still has fluid in it, and if it won't recharge to 12.6 volts, it is finished...

By the way... I took the seat off my scoot to poke around, see how hard it would be to hook up a charger, and I don't see anything that looks like a battery. Does anyone know where the battery is on this model? Is it underneath the floor? (Again my scoot is a 2011 TaoTao ATM50-A1) Here's a few pics of what it looks like in there:

Follow the big RED wire that is about the thickness of a pencil.. it will lead to the battery, probably in the floor...or infront of the engine...
You can see the red wire in the top picture on the right hand side...just below the frame

following roketafan's advice, I pulled up the floor mat, unscrewed a trap door, and voila! found my battery in its own neat little box. Now I know how easy the batt is to get to - I didn't even have to take the seat off! So I guess I'm going to order a trickle charger, probably the one I posted a link to earlier - now that I know where to hook it up! Does anyone know the model of the battery or where to buy a new one online? (again, 2011 Taotao ATM50-A1) Thanks again everyone Here's a nice pic of the open battery hatch:

Take the battery out of its little home and it will have the brand name and other information stamped onto it, like the battery number, manufacturer, amp hours etc ...
But get the battery tender charger first and see if it will take a charge.. charge it overnight...
Remove the battery to do the recharge...you may have a fault somewhere that is draining the battery and it will never charge in that situation...

Sprocket's right, they can have a vampire. There's a way to check for that but I'm too tired to spell it out. That Schumaker charger is fine...I have two, but the Battery Tender JR is better. Rich
