I got 2 new Michelin Gold Standard tires on today and what an incredible difference in the ride and handling. I knew it would make a difference but man. I feel much safer now! ;D

I think folks overlook the tires as a source of handling problems. A motorcycle can need tires as soon as 3,000 miles, a scooter is no different. Thanks for the insight, Rich

Sooner than 3k miles, I was ready for a new set of tires when I got home with a brand new gold wing in '87. dunlops....worst tire I ever rode on bar non. Forced the dealer to replace front and it was the same so I bought a new set of decent tires from a repair only dealer and what a difference. john

Michillen Gold Standard Tire Alert!!! I Put on a Gold Standard sept of 2011, and after two months of fall riding for about 2500 miles, I come to find this spring (March 16th 70 degree day) fresh out of winter storage, a BULGE in the tire. Must be a defect of some kind. But what have i done just yesterday? went and ordered another Gold Standard, hopefully they will find it was a defective one in a million and compensate me. I have found that rear tires are only good for about 9 or 10 thousand miles at the most. Had a Avon stryker on the rear, and it only lasted 7000 miles, but the same tire on my front is still on and it has about 18000 on it. (this is getting replaced by a City Grip this week.) Anyway, just my two cents worth....

rob00757 If you put 7,000 miles on your rear tire which was a a Avon Stryker you did well. I was able to get only 5,000 miles out of my Viper rear and as you said the front just goes and goes.

Added benefit: I had 130/60/13 on there originally and put 140/60/13 on as replacements. Now my speedo is only about 2 MPH off as apposed to the seven it used to be!!
I was able to get 3500 out of the original set. Front was still fine but I just have a thing about miss matched tires on anything. (car, truck, scooter, lawn mower) Damn OCD!!! Plus the shop gave me 20 bucks for my old front tire! ;D
