Travler1, How high are the RPMS climbing to? Now just because you get more RPMS does not mean you will get more top end. But what scoot do you have a 150 or a 50 I am assumeing a 150 if you think it should do 60mph. Now just so you know the 150s are good for 50+ mph say 50-55mph a 150 to do a REAL 60mph will need some mods.
But the important thing is your concerned about the CDI being restricted and usually on the 150s they are not restricted. On a 150 the REDLINE starts at 8000 rpms so If the rpms climb above 7000 rpms I do not believe it is restricted. I could just be that your weights are to heavy. WHAT GRAM weights do you have in there? Alleyoop

Good, Find out what the RPMS are that is very important and will tell you if the CDI is restricted. BUT AND I SAY BUT, the one with 17gram rollers WILL HAVE LOW RPMS I can guarantee on that and has nothing to do with the CDI. I have YET SEEN a 150 with a restricted CDI the ones that do come with a RESTRICTED CDI are the 50s. And the 50s come with RESTRICTIONS because those pass as NOT REQUIRED AN MC LICENSE and in some states NO LICENS PLATES needed as well. They pass those as going only 30mph and that is why they put on the RESTRICTED CDIs as well as WASHERS inbetween the Variator so the belt will NOT climb and not go above 30+mph. MRP I have to say is FULL OF snit they just want to sell their stuff. Hell you cannot even buy directly from them they DO NOT SELL to the public they just farm their stuff out to dealers. So I would take what they say with a grain of salt and really at lot of dealers sell stuff as performance parts and all they do is require MORE RPMS to turn the wheel and that is your performance. Unfortunately if you want your motor to last you cannot run them over their redlines to many times or you will be going back to the dealer for a new motor.
50s run in the 30+ range,150s run in the 50+ range and 250s run in the 60+range without any mods.
Normally if you have a restricted CDI once it reaches the RPM limiter the CDI will cut out and your rpms will drop and you can then bring it back up and it will keep on doing it.
AN EXCELLENT example is my own TRIKE, out of the CRATE after broken in it would ONLY DO 50MPH and the MOTOR was SCREAMING at 8200-8500 rpms now mind you the REDLINE on these motors is 8000. Alleyoop

I agree with Alley.. there is nothing performance about 95% of parts out there.. the only performance is they empty your wallet faster!
There ARE very good parts that perform better than stock and will last 10 times longer... Prodigy, Dr. Pulley, NCY, HOCO, Ruima etc..but they are expensive... you get what you pay for as usual...

WOW!! that is high put in some heaveir weights, for every gram heavier you will drop 500-600 rpms. 150s usually run really good with weighta anywhere from 11s to13s. Alleyoop
