When I first noticed this piece on one of the news sites, I didn't give it much of a thought. It seems that in Holland, Domino's Pizza is going green by using electric scooters for its delivery vehicles. Well, that's nice, it demonstrates some kind of environmental commitment, but in a city packed with bicycle traffic, a completely silent scooter might be some kind of traffic menace.
Not to worry, Domino's came up with "safe sound", an electronic imitation exhaust note for its delivery scooters that is guaranteed to get attention . . . . if pedestrians and cyclists don't fall over laughing.

The shop I went to when looking at a possible purchase of a new Vespa, Aprilla or Kymco had an electric scooter setup for delivery. Guy said they were starting to sell them to local pizza shops. All I remember was it was out of my price range. Don't even remember the actual price.

Imagine a Chinese scooter of any sort for a delivery vehicle. It will rack up some real mileage every year it's alive. When I worked in a gas station the cab drivers had some outrageous mileage on their hacks. Mind you we're talking late 1960s and these guys had 150,000+, an incredible amount in the age of three year cars.

Hilarious! Just goes to show everyone here at Scooter Doc is ahead of the curve. Scooters are getting more and more popular. If we start to see gas prices north of 5.00 for long periods of time you'll see em everywhere. It makes perfect sense for work, delivery, or just taking a cruise.
I bought my scooter at the end of the riding season last year. Some of my friends were takin' jabs at me for it. All that stopped when I explained I'd be saving $40.00 PER WEEK in gas, just scootin' back and fourth to work. I have had some mechanical issues but I will have paid for my scooter in fuel savings by the beginning of August this year.
With the ridiculous fuel prices, you can buy a 1500 dollar scoot and have it paid for in one year's time. The following years are all savings. Can't poke fun at that anymore.
