Ok, Turn the Fuel ratio screw Clockwise until it Stops AND COUNT THE NUMBER OF TURNS it takes until it stops. DO not force it just until it stops. Then turn it out 2 1/2 turns and see if it is better 2 1/2 is a good starting point it may need fine tuneing from there. Also check and make sure the clamps holding the carb are tight as well as the Airbox tubing is all connected. Alleyoop

I had the exact same thing on a new one a month ago. Mine was drawing a vacuum in the gas tank and would prevent fuel from flowing. On the tank vent side rubber hose there was an apparent check valve that looked to prevent fuel from leaking out if the bike fell over as it worked when up right but not inverted. I like the keep it simple idea so i just eliminated it and run my vent line down and away and left it unobstructed to atmosphere, end of problens, a quick test is to pull the gas cap off as soon as it stops and see if there is an inrush of air to determine if this is the solution you are looking for. The day I bought mine there was a guy cussing and pushing one back into the lot that he had just bought and rode off on, I have often wondered if his was the same problem. Ultimatly i think my little check valve thingy could have been installed upside down but I removed it before I learned how it worked. good luck and look at the path of the fuel. If it has the tank above there needs to be flow of fuel to the carb but there is also a vacuum operated petcock that stops the gravity flow unless the engine is cranking or running, it is easy to see a pic. of this small device on ebay as there is always several for sale under gy6 parts. You can pull the line off of this vac. petcock on the side leading to the carb. and see if fuel flows when you suck a slight vacuum on the port on the side. Just a good verification of supply side. The make sure that air is able to get into the fuel tank to replace the gas coming out to make it all work as needed. if it seemed to run a few miles and then die I bet it is what I am guessing above and the carb is not the ultimate culprit.

Great explanation Ratrod, thanks. Yep, just loosen your gas cap and see what it does. If it starts running it's the vent. I get rid of those nasty check valves and vapor canisters on all of my bikes. If the Chinese are going to put them on there they should make them work! Rich

My scooter came with dirt and fuzzy things already in the tank.I rinsed them out. That's when I noticed the small hole at the fuel filter. The dirt would have plugged the hole before it ever got inside.I got a new filter for a lawn mower, with a fuel pump.It just hast a metal piece inside so the papr wont collapse under pressure and works just fine on my gravity fed fuel system. You may have plugged your vacuum petcock diapham.Take offthe petcock, put a hose on the vacuum stem, put the hose in your mouth and suck, clamp the hose while suction is being applied. Then blow through the exit side stem to blow out the dirt. Attachments:
