Hey friends, I really love talking to people about my new scooter and how great it handles and how much I enjoy riding it,But, about evry other a d-ck will come along and ask me how I like it and start telling me about all of it's problems like lack of power, heavy vibrations, bad rear end problems and such. And how do they know that my bike has all of these problems? there answer is always that a friend they knew use to have one awhile back, and when I asked what kind of bike it was the answer is always "I don't remember but I know it was one of those CHINESE peices of crap that they sell on the internet. They start telling me that I'll be disapointed with the handling and it doesn't have enough power to go up hills and that it will start falling apart even before the warranty is up...Hmmm!! They don't even give you time to answer their questions. One older very heavy set man in a suv along with 2 elderly woman in the car started asking me questions and before I could even answer him he started saying that he read about my bike or the exact same kind on the internet and my bike can't even go the speed limit on the highway. I told him that if the article was in fact about my bike that it was dead wrong, he then TOLD me that I was going to go across town and get on the highway so he could follow me in his suv to prove that I was wrong....Yeah right, I asked him if he was used to insulting people he doesn't even know and commanding them to prove or not prove themselves wrong about stuff he read about on the net??? His wife said "yeah, quit being rude Wayne" and the man started yelling "Well it's people like ME that are ruining the economy by buying those Chinese peices of crap". Then there's the neighbor that came over to look at it the day that I brang it home and told me how cool it looked and told me don't run into anything with it because it's all made out of cheap chinese plastic unlike the HARLEY davidsons that are all steel. I informed that neighbor that I promise not to go out and run into a brick wall with my bike and that I'd leave that task for the HARLEY riders. JEES,people need to get a life and relearn some manners,I mean how do they expect the younger generations to learn manners when the older ones are so eager to throw down the trash at someone they don't even know. OK end of rant. Like I said, ask me anything you want but be civil about it. daddue11 Steve

Just ask them what do you ride, when they say nothing I don't have a scooter or whatever then tell them that is what I thought you don't know crap. And IF they do say what they have give it back to them say yea I heard that those things break down and cost a lot of money for parts and labor(HAHA). Alleyoop

The problem is that the web is slathered with tales about Chinese POS.EXCEPT-----that the headings all say 2007 or earlier. Everytime I read about some company's record of complaints I go and look and see the information is 6 years old. Of course there's always the little bananas and their friends who flog their Chinese scoots like rented mules and then say, "Buy Japanese". All you can do is smile and say, as I do, "I have 6,700 miles on the original engine. I guess I must be lucky."

They say the same thing about my Honda.... Some think if you don't buy made in the USA your a fool. Well I love my country and am a VET, like many of you... I wish we did make something like these machines affordable so we coould buy made in the USA. I ride daily and love my Chino Magnum and Japan Honda Reflex. I just smile and ride

For starters the old people that you are talking about are the ones the young people learned from already. And as far as scooters go its my concern on what i bought no one elses.Once i had a guy at the gas station make a negative comment about my scooter. He was a heavy guy about 350lbs and stated all of those chinese scooters are trash. My reply was at his weight i know of very few scooters that could handle his fat behind anyway people at the gas station just burst out laughing. As i say i could care less about what you think about my choices in life.Forget them and enjoy your scooter.

I just tell 'em, I get my scooters delivered to my house in a box, then I put 'em together. It's like a kit that you have to assemble, so it's actually made in the USA, out of imported parts.
Yeah, unless you can do that, you can't have one.
Oh, sorry, no, I can't sell you this one, you just wouldn't be qualified to operate it, and you might get hurt.
So when ever you see someone on a China Scoot, tip your hat and wish them well, they're the bravest of all the two wheel riders.

I pulled up to a scooter at a red light and when the rider noticed me looking at his scooter I said, "Great looking scooter, is it a 150?" He smiled and said yes and btw thats a nice motorcycle. We talked untill the long red turned to green and rode the next few miles together.

You all do not know how sorry I am that I did not buy a new 300cc chinese POS. I bought a used yamaha majesty and with in a few thousand miles turned up with blow by. When I finally could no longer stand the oil all over every thing I tore it down. I found a over 7mm gap in the compression ring when placed in the center of the cyl. I have been waiting almost a month for parts. The over sized piston had to come from japan. the rings were lost/damaged by UPS and are now on back order from japan. A majesty is probably the most unservice-able scooter made today. As an example one of the fellows on the majesty forum saw the paper work from a recall on his 2007 like mine for a defective fuel pump. Yamaha paid his dealer $1800 for pulling the gas tank and replacing the fuel pump. It has a double frame and the lower has to be removed to change the fuel pump! You want to talk about a POS its not the chinese who have it, it is yamaha. You all have no idea how p.i.s.s.ed I am. About 3 or more hours to get the tupper ware off and If I can figgure out how to ride it with out it will go in the burn pile and when some one asks why I will tell them.
Count your blessings with a chinese scooter. john
I will make a post complete with pictures later on documenting what a POS really is. (yamaha)

I know the feeling steve, At first i got tossed into the hoop as well and still do from time to time. But for the most part i get a blank stare when someone say's all the same bad thing's they do to you about your ride. When they say stuff like that to me i simply tell them the truth. "Well it's 3 years old, died on me once, so i replaced the vacuum line and that was the only day i was 15 min's late for work in the last 3 years" At work, i never get any slack for driving my jonway, mostly because im the ONLY one that has never had to call in, because of a major transportation fail. For the most part i've been asked "Hey, where did you buy that scooter and how much?" Sure, these scooter are not the best made, It's the knowledgeable mechanic that can keep one on the road, not the arm chair T.V watching guy that watches motor weekly at the repair shops customer waiting lounge that i would be worried about.

It only happens in the states...when scooters are the norm (popular) all that will stop. In Puerto Rico they are everywhere so no one thinks like that. I get crap from my step brother who asked me if it came with a skirt...this from a guy who has never rode anything on 2 wheels but a huffy.

Why is a duck asking you about your scooter? If somebody asks me about my "moped" I illustrate that I only have to use one gallon to go 80 miles. I find visuals help with these kinds of brainiacs. Rich
