Good idea Alley, what would you do about the carb plug? Should I bother or are they close? I am at sea level

I have a tried changing the jets, remember AL? Ended up going back to the stock set. John if bronze like cap under the carb toward the front of carb that is the fuel mixture screw. I just took mine off and left it off. once you have it set were you want just put a little silicone on it. I had to lean mine I think I run it at about 1 1/2 turns outs, but ou have a tach so it will be easer to adjust.

I remember that, cleaned the carb and lost the float pin.... Remember the gas running out the overflow? Wow, some of the crap we go thru sometime... But I over jetted and ran her and in the end I put new jets in but same size

Ok guys yes I am taking about the mixture screw under the front of the carb. Since I have it apart I might as well pull the cap off. I think mine is running rich also plug is wet but I need to check WOT before I jump the gun here. The BIG question is Alley you told me to remove one of the fuel filters, I agree. But I was up all night thinking WHERE should the filter be? BEFORE the fuel pump or AFTER the fuel pump which is where I mounted mine before I found the factory one. What do you guys think or does it matter. Mike where did you get the plastic to make the hatch, could you post a picture?

They came in the hardware bag with the windshield nuts and bolts so I am thinking windshield but where I don't know. I only have four of them seven holes in windshield but the bag had a hole in it so don't know how many I should have, Ideas??

Have no idea what they are from that picture. is it treaded the one on the right?? If so the other may be a cap cover, just a guess. Put the fuel filter befor the pump but place it were you can easy get to it with out pulling any topper ware.

Use a marker and mark it like this 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch. Then you will know how high the belt is traveling up the variator: As for where to put the Fuel Filter put it where you can get to it easy. Some put it between the Fuel Pump and Carb( I have it between the Pump and Carb right in front of my CVT Cover for easy access.. Otherwise I would need to take crap off if I put it between the tank and the Fuel Pump). And those Buttons in the picture looks like the Silver one goes into a hole from underneath and the CAP snaps on to make it look pretty. Alleyoop

To cover the hatch I had I just took a paper clip board, mine is the fiber hard board than use velcro. Keep forgetting to get a plastic on at Wal Mart, make that hatch huge and you can even put a hatch sit in bucket. lots of room you gain if you want, than just lift it out when needed

Tierod: Also learn how to adjust your valves because I can promise you it's coming. Almost everyone of us has had to do so. Had to do mine at about 100 miles. I changed every single hose and fluid to US spec before I rode mine. Also change the cheap Chinese spark plug out. Put the fuel filter where you can easily access it at the same time you change your fuel line hose (assuming you change it). I also changed to a performance coil...made for easier starts in the long run. vr, Lee

Lee where did you get the performance coil? I am looking for performance parts but don't know what engine I should say I have. Alley said he thinks it's a 250 bored out. So what do I say I have a 250 or a 279, I'm lost. What will the symtoms be when the valves need adjusting?

I believe the coil is the same for both and I believe we are actually the 279. Linhau should be listed . I can't remember where I bought mine but if you google performance scooter coil it will show up. It's orange in color. I'll try to find the package. Hard starting or dying off after riding it, is a sure fire valve check for sure. Use the search on here or the other scoot forum and you will get tons of info on adjusting the valves. It's not as hard as it appears. I believe our Magnums call for .004 and .005 but I'm sure some will chime in if my memory is wrong...once again those numbers can be found on the search option. I'll tell you this...it's really obvious when it's time. The scoot will go from running great to crap. It's probably a good idea to check them anyway. Valve adjustment and carb adjustment make a world of difference on these little 300's. When they are dead on man the run good. I haven't adjusted anything on mine in a year. Of course I haven't put the miles on it that Mike does in FL though.
