Quick question idle keeps changing what would do that? Have to adjust every day. I have put a tach on so I can see it. Sometimes it drops and stalls, try to keep it at 1500 like book says. Also is there a easy way to get the air filter out?

Could be running lean. Possibly a vacuum leak.

What should I do about that? I also notice in the moringing it just don't start up. I have to give it gas a few times. How do you know if choke is working other then having juice? Any tricks for air filter?

John, remember the cut away I made under the seat? You can remove the whole air box thru that hole and is great for other maintenance. That is nothing but a big piece of tupper ware, I use velcro to hold the cover on inside. Yes i t sounds like it is too lean. Also, I have found in the past that with the kill switch I turn it over 3 seconds than turn fill off and she fires right off winter and summer. Also make sure the air intake hose is on the carb right and has not come off.

Well You need to raise the IDLE, 1500 is pretty low for that motor. Raise it up to 1800-2000 rpms. If the Idle is bounceing it is running LEAN, could be a Leak someplace or the carb needs to be richened up. To check for a LEAK get a Spray BOttle of water and spray around the INTAKE CLAMPS etc.. IF THE IDLE CHANGES you found a leak. Make sure the Clamps holding the Carb are tight as well as the Air Filter tubeing etc.. and no hoses have come off the AIR FILTER BOX etc.. You should get a tach to help tune it. Alleyoop Here is a nice tach that works good and all you do is wrap the RED part of the wire on the COIL WIRE and mount the little tach wherever you can read it at a glance. trailtech.net/tto_tach-hour.html

Thanks guys I will check for leaks and raise the idle and check the mixture. Will have to drill the plug on the carb. Mike I already have a access hole above the carb from the factory but to still get to the air box and unbolt it I need to have smaller hands or something, tight. Alley I already put a tach on I remember you telling me that awhile back and had it waiting before the bike got here and ready to go, good info guys. I will keep you posted

Ok guys bear with me on the photo's. Before I start checking for vac leaks let me make sure everything is hooked up right. This looks like a fuel filter to me. It came with the bike is it?

Last one This is the vac line that is tee'ed off coming off the mainfold in the 2nd picture. I am not sure about the choke side but I have changed nothing yet other then adding a fuel filter. I didn't see the other one in the photo one if that is what it is. Is it ok to leave the two in if thats a filter? After you guys look at this and determine if its right I will pull carb and drill mixture cap put it back together and adjust and see how idle works. If you need addition info let me know. I wish I could get the hang to this photo stuff. Thanks Guys

THE PHOTOS are great good size to see some detail.
The first picture YES that is your FUEL FILTER. Second Picture VAC LINE tied up you probably do not need that Vac line. BUT IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT IS SEALED WELL ENOUGH, IF YOU HAVE A GOLF TEE I would stick it in the HOSE and ZIP TIE THE GOLF TEE ONTO THE HOSE. It could be sucking in air which will cause a bad idle and other bogging problems.
Your manifold has TWO vac connectors and the trike probably only needs one: Vacuum line going to the Fuel Pump and also going to your Carbs ACV valve which it is in the last picture.
The Curved Hose that looks like it is cut off is a VENT OVERFLOW hose that is fine it should be open like that. Alleyoop
Forgot one thing You should only have 1 fuel filter it makes it harder for the gas to be pumped THROUGH two fuel filters.

Al your right on on all points. Is a single vacuum line with a y section. I had to tee mine off too and wire tie it. I think the idle should be higher too, I have no tac but I am at 1700 - 1800. I have the same carb service hatch you have but added a larger one to the rear of it to pull the air filter and box and sometimes carb all at once thru it. You can inspect the rear trike section thru there too if you remember you put your head in there. I just put a velcro hatch on it and good as new

So I will take off the factory filter mine is better. Will also do the golf tee thing. Can I just put another tee in and take the tied line and hook it up ? Would it hurt anything? I will see how it runs and if need be pull cap off mixture screw or you think I should just do it now being apart already, opinion? Also Mike I do remember my head in there!! I think I will do that, make another hatch like you did that WOULD make it easy to work on both. With all these HATCHS I feel like I am in the Navy, LOL I will keep you guys posted and as soon as I take the rear deck off I will get you photo's of the rear axle.

What you can do to use BOTH Vacuum Lines is use one VAC LINE straight to your FUEL PUMP then the other VAC line straight to the ACV VALVE that way you use BOTH NIPPLES on the INTAKE MANIFOLD and You will get MUCH BETTER VACUUM to the two parts that need it. Alleyoop
