Are liquid cooled motors more quiet than air cooled? I have both and it seems like the liquid cooled is much more quiet. There's a 50cc difference between my two scoots, but it still seems that even taking that into account it seems like the sounds are much different.

A liquid cooled is always going to have an edge for less noise. In small engines I do not believe there is going to be that much difference either. But soon as some one puts an after market muffler or pipe in the liquid cooled motor any edge is gone.

also there is the case to be made water cooled bikes many times have a higher compression so run faster at the lower rpms which accounts for some of the quiet, plus they have a more muffed head with the water housing.
but if its a 150 try boric acid in the crank case and they will sound the same, except the boron bike will burn less oil in the last end miles as it builds rings back up.

Please do not start with that ACID snit on this forum, If you want to continue with that do it on SD not here. Alleyoop

hmmm i gotta ask ,,,, can someone direct me to the post about boric acid??? my scoot is a 2 stroke,, how do i get the acid in there? in the auto inject oil tank? i prefer burning hydrogen as a fuel. really cleans up the inside of the engine. hho = dangerous,, hydrogen=safer and waaaay cleaner than petrol. 2.5 times the btu i could go on and on.

If you have a death wish for your scooter boric acid will do it. Hopefully here all boric acid threads have been deleted. I believe the other scooter forums have also deleted the boric acid crap too. john
