I have a motofino 150 that runs great but I'm not going as fast as I think I should. Engine seems to be running just fine but only going 45 or so at 8500 to 9000rpms. I'm pretty broke so I can't afford any major upgrades but I need to increase my top end speed because I travel good distances and I don't want to push the engine too hard for too long. Any help would be awesome so that I'm not just throwing money around blindly

Performance variator and heaver rollers/sliders. You may need a slightly longer belt. 8500 rpm it high heaver rollers would bring it down. I would open the cvt and see what you have in there.

If he is cranking at those high rpms It is NOT his valves, If it was his valves it would not reach those rpms. It is obviously his weights they are to LIGHT and letting it reach high rpms and the belt is not climbing high enough on the Variator. That scoot should at the very least do 50mph and maybe get up to 55mph. Alleyoop

Using 12 or 13gr rollers or sliders will help better with top end speed. Do you still have the stock air filter ? removing it and putting in a performance airfilter will help your engine breath better. You would need to adjust your carbs jetting if you do that upgrade. Performance exhaust pipe will also help !If you haven't replaced the stock CDI do so if you can . Just my 2 cents worth ! will c.

It is also possible you have weights hung up....if the weights are in right with no grease you definitely need heavier ones. what weights do you have in there now?

Thank you guys for the response, I'm happy that I found this forum. I adjusted the valves the weeks ago and checked them again and they're set right. Then I opened the CVT and removed the variator and noticed issues immediately. There was black dust everywhere from the belt and a black circle on both the variator assembly and variator drive plate(probably from high rpms). But the marking on the assembly was pretty much as high as it could go although the drive plate was larger so the marks on it were about 3/4" to the edge. When I inspected the rollers I did notice that some had obvious flat spots but they all looked a bit glazed. I weighed them and four of them were 12.8 grams and two were 12.9 grams which was heavier than I expected. Do I still need to go heavier? The scooter did have a performance air filter when I bought it but the previous owner said the carb was brand new so it probably has stock jets. What carb jets would I have to get to improve fuel/air mixture?

Those weights were originally 13g weights and are worn down below 13grams. I would clean the Variator and MARK it with a marker 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch and run it at WOT. Those markings you see may be from the Previous owner. I do not believe that the belt is TRAVELING up the Variator that high right now and is why you are seeing lower MPH and high rpms. With those weights the motor should not rev up that high. So Mark the Variator like this and then check how high your current setup is allowing the belt to climb. Alleyoop

flat spots on the rollers is not good . What size belt is in there ? If the width is worn it will increase the rpm and lower the ratio . That will slow you down . Measure the inner pulley diameter .

Alright, sorry took so long but I opened the cvt and marked the variator like you said and the belt isn't going up to the marks I found. As for the belt, its a 835 but looking at a parts website I read that scooters with rear tires larger than 10" require a 842. Is that true or does it sound correct to you guys? And I'm still not sure if I should re-jet my carb since it has after market air filter. At this point I think a performance variator kit will be good but if you think the belt and jets should be done too just let me know

How far away was the mark left on the VARIATOR?
No the scoots with a long case ususally come with a 835 belt and you can put a 842 either one will work. The 842 will allow the belt to climb up the variator much easier BUT that does not mean it WILL CLIMB up higher that all DEPENDS ON THE WEIGHTS and RPMS. The belt should AT LEAST CLIMB TO 1/4 from the edge of the Variator the CLOSER to the EDGE the better. I have experminented with different weights and RPMS and the best I have gotten it to is 1/8 from the EDGE and that is with a PERFORMANCE VARIATOR which is 4 1/2 inchs across compared to the OEMS which are a little over 4 inchs across. But that is about 3/8 more travel which gives you at Least 5mph more top end. Alleyoop

Ok, that is as high as your probably going to get out of that Variator, the last looks like 1/4 of an inch on that Variator is curved out away and the belt will never climb past the shiney part.
I would recommend getting a Performance Variator that is 4 1/2 inchs in diameter Pm TVNACMAN he sells some for a good price. I actually am running with one at the moment I took off my Prodigy Racing Variator and put one that he sells on to give it a try and it works good. Then get a 842 belt and give it a shot with 12gram or the 13gram weights you currently have. Alleyoop
