I am going to be purchasing a brand new Jonway Agility 50cc scooter within a week and wanted some advice/help. I want this scooter to last a good while and want to be able to maintain it. Is there anything I should do immediately after I buy it to make this a better scooter. Like a new battery, spark plug, or an oil change, etc ? Also if some of these things are needed what would be a good battery that I could use in it and does anyone know where I could find it online? Or what is the best oil to use for it, etc? Thanks for your help everyone! This will be my first scooter and so I want to do everything right the first time

You shouldn`t need to replace anything really, the quality of scoots has come quite a way in the last couple of years. Only thing I would recommend is to go around all the nuts and bolts/screws etc. that you can see, and make sure they are snug, and check that the panels are secure. Check the oil levels in the engine and transmission, fire it up and check lights etc. Take it for a spin to check there`s no wobbles/funny noises. The new battery we normally fill with acid mix and trickle charge for 6 hours, this allows the new plates to accumulate gradually which gives the battery a longer life. For the bikes in work, we do the PDI then allow them to get to 300km, then change the oils to scooter 4T and the plug to an NGK. At the 300km mark you might also want to check and adjust the valves but there is a tutorial on this forum to guide you. Hope that helps

Rob that does help a lot! I have a few questions still. Do you know what is a battery that would fit in my Jonway Agility? Do I have to put any gear oil anywhere or just changing the oil should be sufficient, and what type of 4T oil? I ask because i looked it up and there are many different types. also exactly what valves were you referring too , like on the carburetor or what? I apologize for all my questions, I am just not the most mechanically adept person as you can tell, and probably am asking some stupid questions. So any more answers would be greatly appreciated!

Here`s a manual for the engine which should give you some idea of where things are scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=manualsgenericsandstandards&action=display&thread=5329The valves are on the cylinder head inside an alloy cover, if you have a look at the manual it will explain things with more detail. There is a dipstick/filler for the engine oil on the right hand of the engine just behind the fan guard. The drain plug is on the bottom of the engine, there might be two. One is a simple drain plug, the other has a mesh filter inside to filter the oil and catch any crap floating around. The 4T oil is normally labelled as Scooter 10/40w, although I`ve used normal car 10/40 with no problems. Transmission/gear oil normally comes in 125ml tubes which is enough for the 50cc models. It might take some searching on the rear of the casing to find the drain and fill bolts. You shouldn`t need to replace the battery as the quality is normally ok. Easiest way to get a replacement is take it to an auto battery shop and let them match it up. There will be numbers on it and of course the positioning of the terminals and external dimensions matter so it will fit inside your battery box.

Ok perfect! so changing the oil and the engine oil, are they two separate things? or when someone refers to changing the oil do they mean the engine oil? Lastly sorry to bother you again Rob, I searched for the tutorial to adjust the valves but alas I could not find it. Do you think you could link it for me? Thanks so much for all your help and making me feel at ease about starting this scooter off right, Justin.
