Last night I was out riding late and double. It was kind of chilly, (55) and got thinking. My majesty does have a temp read out on the lcd dash that I do not use, its either that or a clock read out.
For those who do actually ride when it is cold enough to freeze occasionally a dash mounted remote thermometer would be perfect. If you mount the sensor low to the road and away from engine heat you could get an early warning about a road ready to freeze. I have bought cheap electronic ones with about 3 feet of wire for less than $5 that read in C.
Me,... it has been at least 25 years since I rode with snow on the ground and that wasn't my choice and hope it will never happen again. john

Not a temp control; a thermometer. was one of the chinese outfits, probably dx.com/ have one I used for monitoring photo chemicals and another for a fish tank. here is one of the many they have: dx.com/p/1-5-lcd-car-home-outdoor-digital-thermometer-black-2-x-lr44-105647reads down to -58 for any one nuts enough to ride in sub-sub zero weather! Don't need one on my scooters, If you can see your breath you go back inside!

i rode all most winter. as long as the roads are dry, im fine. but that being said, you do have to concentrate a bit more. black ice is called black ice for a reason!!! i would usually ride only between 10am & 4 pm and if the sun was out, it was better. and IF i ever got a bit nervous well heck bell's i'd just slow down screw the people behind me, im not wrecking cause they are impatience.

If it was me rigging a chinese for the winter I think I would stick the probe right where the spray from the front wheel hits the bottom of the front of the scooter so you could get as close to road temp as possible. Got one here with the battery door open, better get out a couple of them Lr44 A76 something battery's that fit all kinds of stuff, cameras digital calipers etc. This one takes more than a few sec to update when temp changes but should be ok for the purpose.
Not usually much snow around here and in fact last winter there was none but if some shows up I will be inside with hot chocolate of coffee watching tv!
