My friend gave me his 2008 Jonway 250cc that had been sitting in his garage since about the end of 09. I replaced all the fluids, the battery, the fuel filter and various other hoses and clamps. I also had to replace the carburetor. Once I did all the above, the scooter turned right over and now runs like a champ My only issue is that fuel gauge stays on E... I figured that it might be the gas tank sensor being stuck or something, but the tank has fuel in it, and i don't want to drain the tank unless i absolutely have to. Anyone have anything else that i can check before I try this? Tomorrow I will be able to take the front end apart and try to check cables and connections. All the other gauges work on the cluster except for the fuel. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It is either stuck in the E position Or check the plug coming from the sensor and make sure it is plugged in. You can probably test if it is getting juice and plugged in, stick a piece of wire with a hook down the fill hole and grab the Float Wire and pull it up with the KEY on and see if the gauge registers. If it registers it is PLUGGED in and either the FLOAT DISINTEGRATED and or has leaked and filled up with gas and that is holding it down. The floats are very thin and cheap and can easly leak because the wire is going through it and has snap on washer holding it on the end of it. Now it could also be that the swivel part holding the wire is very loose and the wire went under the plastic holder and is being held down. But in either case you will have to take the Sensor out and see if it came to loose and got hung up or the float is full of gas or just plain gone. Alleyoop Check this thread out and I have pictures of what the sensor that goes in the tank looks like and how the float and wire are hooked up. www.scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=trike&action=display&thread=212

Alleyoop. Thank you ;D
Sticking the wire in the tank and hooking the sensor seems to have brought it back to life! It now works perfectly. I think it was stuck or something like you suggested.
Again, thank you.

Is there some way of checking to see if it is getting power? Because neither my gas gauge nor my temp gauge is reading on my 2008 Hauwin 250cc (Helix clone). I just checked the the ohms on the Fuel sensor unit and it's fine, so the unit works. I need a way of checking to insure the electronic gauge itself is receiving the signal.

Check the connections behind the speedometer. Philips head screws get loose. John

I jumped the wires from the terminals to the wire harness coming out out the instrument panel. Now the gauge just read "full"... Wow.
