Yes, you can replace your living room bulb with a 60watt ;D Alleyoop
But seriously put in a 35w

The problem is your charging system will not keep up for one. snit to put in 55w hid bulbs you have to dish out quite a bit of coins and at least put in a 11 pole stator so that enough juice can drive the 55w and charge the battery. You can do it but it will cost you money and a lot of work.
I mean even with the lights they come with which most are 35w the lights dim at idle and also if you have a volt meter on the scoot you will see that sucker drop like a rock at idle.

I had to put my old stator on the new motor and I noticed when I exchanged them that the one that came with the motor had about 5 or 6 poles. And my old one which I put in had about 11 or 12 poles It looks just like this compare.ebay.com/like/170302681678?var=lv<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbarSo, is that sufficient? Or is there something else that needs to be done. I just wanted something a little brighter, but if it is going to need upgrades to do it, then I will just scrap he idea.

So you rewired the scoot then because going from 6/8 pole stator to 11-18 pole stator you also need a different R/R. But yes if you have an 11 pole stator in there it should be able to handle more watt bulbs. So give it a shot put in 55w bulbs and see if it works and also watch the battery charge when you put on the lights. You will know right away if it will handle it maybe also try 45w bulbs. Alleyoop

and at least change the tail light to a led. The turns are not that important as they are only one when you are turning.

The extra heat from more watts may also be a problem. May melt the base/socket, and or lenses.

Hey, thanks guys. I think I will just go back to a 35w. Never thought about the heat causing problems.

The reflector in my 150 is made of plastic. I don't ride my 150 much after dark but is just barely minimal in terms of lighting. Not even comparable to a car or my majesty but it doesn't go that fast either. Bulbs don't last long so I bought a big box of them from a snow mobile dealer in wisc. at about a buck apiece. Mine seem to last about 7-800 miles as I have over 2 miles of a rough dirt road to get to black top.

Vibration can drastically reduce the live span of a filament type bulb.

I put 55 w bulbs in mine and they come on a little slower but seem to be brighter. But I also put them on a switch. now if it wont start I have more battery life.

I am sure the vibration in running the 2+ miles of dirt road to blacktop is what kills my bulbs. At least if I stay stock I haven't introduced more problems than I already have. Many when they go to bigger bulbs end up with meltdowns, stators, and regulators crapping out.

I dropped i an halogen bulb at or close to the original wattage but, it goes bright on low settings and low on bright setting, hasn't caused any problems. I usually run it on high setting unless i'm riding in the dark, which i usually ride in the dark under 1 hour.

I changed from 25w to 35w and it made a huge difference. Even though I'm only maxing out around 35mph, I take turns hard and fast and I couldn't see far before. Now, I can see a good 1/4th mile down the road, at least enough to make out a deer standing on the side/in the middle of the road. That's a huge relief, to have some advance notice... almost hit several animals as I live in the "country" and ride a lot at night. However, I do notice the plastic bulb covers get noticeably hot to the touch, and they do dim at idle, but I keep everything up w/Batt. Tender Jr. My scoot is down right now so I'm flippin' the hell out, can't stand not riding. I ride every day... chasing down some sort of electrical or stator or piston/rings problem now. Guh.

I though about adding a "vent" with rubber boot in to the plastic "bucket" so it can relieve the heat.
