Out of the blue my scoot stopped starting. Never had a problem b4.
It will crank (elect. starter) just fine. Bot will not start. With kick start it just rolls over and does not catch at all.
Tried:
Jumping Solenoid, Kick starting, and changing out plug, CDI, and plug wire.
Symptoms: Jumping the solenoid initiated the starter with the same results as pushing the start button. No spark when checking by setting plug against engine and trying to start.
I have no idea what to do next... Any ideas?
thanks!

Check your KILLSWITCH, flick it off and on it may be grounding your CDI. Alleyoop

I do not have any kick-stand switches.
If by "killswitch" you mean the toggle on the right handle, did that, and if it is off it will not turn over, so don't think that is causing anything...
When jumping the solenoid it sparked (on the screw-terminals), and cranked... Is it possible it is the solenoid?
Also my turn signals have been out for quite some time
Don't have a multimeter. AAAAAAAGH!

With out a meter your just guessing. A meter will tell what you have or don't have

Ok, so the problem seems to be NO SPARK, so find your CDI and you will see wires two white plugs plugged into it. Looking at the CDI with the PLUGS pointing up the TWO PLUG side will have two wires. The TOP wire on the TWO PLUG side is the KILLWIRE, Pull that off and see if the SPARK PLUG SPARKS while holding it to the MOTOR OR VALVE COVER. Also Check for the GROUND WIRE from the MOTOR TO THE FRAME, the Ground wire is usually Connected to the VALVE COVER. Check the wire connections they may be rusted and not GROUNDING GOOD. Also Check if the SPARK PLUG will fire Holding it to the frame. Alleyoop

OK Update: I tried disconnecting the killswitch wire, no good, re-connected it. Tried to test for spark on frame, no good. Borrowed a multi meter, tested my spark cable, it is good. Tested the two wires that connect to the SP wire and there is about 23 volts(?) coming out of them when trying to start it. Don't know what else to check! Thanks...

Well no spark, here is the flow to get spark: Alleyoop 1. KillSwitch-DONE 2. Need a Ground wire from frame to Motor(usually a ground wire on one of the Valve cover bolts). 3. Bad Plug- Done 4. Bad Boot Cap 5. Bad Coil Wire 6. Bad Coil 7. Bad CDI-Done 8. Bad Pick Up Coil 9. Bad Stator If you have a VOLT METER the stator can be checked to see if it is bad or not. Look in the electrical section for Richs HOW-TO test for no spark. He has actual pictures of testing on his scoot. www.scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=electrical&action=display&thread=2524

Thanks again for the help. I checked things with a multimeter and it seemed fine to me, stepdad checked it and he said it was bad. We had 2 extras lying around, thankfully. Replaced the stator and it starts just fine!

Only rode it a couple times. Last time (yesterday) took a 15 minute trip there and back again and it was running very well. Made a quick trip to the store last night. It was cold, but scoot ran fine.
Was going to test it and take a long ride today. Got about 5 minutes down the road and noticed I was loosing power at high revs. Seemed to be missing/popping if I gave it a lot of gas. Went OK as long as you didn't rev it too high.
Then I stopped at a light and noticed it was making a banging, metallic noise. Turned around and gingered it back to apartment.
Took off the cover where the belt goes, where it seemed the noise was coming from. The belt had some stripping on it, and the bolt that holds the front pulley (where the belt rides) was VERy hot. Put it back together and tried to start it to check the noise and it would not start. Each time it turns over there is a clang sound.
There is oil, but it was very black. Haven't changed it in a while.
Any ideas? It sounds pretty bad to me....

Take a VIDEO of the clanging sound, you may have put the CVT cover on wrong and the BENDIX gear shaft is not in the hole on the back of the cvt cover to hold it in place.
But the loosing power is not good change the oil 10w40 that and air is the only thing that keeps the motor temperature down. Hope that clanking is not internal. Alleyoop

Thanks. I took off the CVT cover to check it, and made sure the gear that likes to pop out (Bendix?) was inserted in the half-circle cowling correctly. It will not start, thats why I didn't make a video. Guess I could record it trying to start.

Yes, a video would help, where does the sound appear to be coming from? the front of the motor or by the CVT area? Alleyoop

Here is the video. It started, somehow... Sounds like the noise is from the back around the CVT...
