Hay there all ya’ll jt1954 here, living in San Antonio Texas; I have an Ice Bear Viking P150-8 Trike, with a GY-6 149cc engine, CVT transmission. I have been reading folks posting about “changing out the tranny oil” and since no manual is available on my trike .. .. .. Qu #1 of many more to come, how & where do you check level/full, fill, and drain? I thought that CVT’s ran “dry” like Harleys. If they do run “wet” summarily to Japanese bikes, is the motor oil the lube for the CVT? .. .. .. Comment has been made about the Britt’s & their seeming to have a good deal of info on these types of scooters (maybe even some manuals). And Qu #2 for this trip is .. .. .. How do I get up with these Euro/Britt groups? Any one got any links, or web addy’s to them? Thanx

Hi JT1954 welcome to the forum, The CVT is dry but NOT the TRANNY. There is no measuring the tranny Gear Oil while in the tranny. It takes 8ozs if you put in more it will just squirt out of the tranny vent hose, it is a SPLACH SYSTEM as the gears are turning it is splashing oil all over the place.
The Drain plug is at the back of the CVT UNDER you will see a bolt under the TRANNY RIGHT NEXT to the CVT COVER by the CLUTCH. It only take 8 ozs of Gear Oil.
Now to fill it you have 2 choices:
1. The fill plug is behind the SPROCKET so if you want to use the fill plug you have to take the SPROCKET OFF. Yea I know they must of been drunk when they designed that one, couldn't just put it on top of the tranny that would have been to easy(HAHA).
2. What I do is use the VENT HOSE FOR THE TRANNY you will see it by the CLUTCH on top of the CASE RIGHT NEXT TO THE CVT COVER. So what I do is use an oil can they come with a tube and a pointed outlet. I measure out 9 ozs of gear oil and Stick the pointed outlet in the VENT HOSE and fill it that way. The reason I put in 9ozs is because if you notice on the oil cans the part that sucks out the oil does not reach to the bottom of the can. Hope this helps Alleyoop
