I have asked this question before and never got a real answer. Does the rad fan blow in toward the engine or out toward the wheel. In seems logical the fan would draw air through the rad and blow over the engine. But if the front tire creates a vacuum behind the fender the fan would have to work in reverse. I just want to know how it came from the factory.

Modern cooling fans can pull or push air and the fan shroud provides for maximum efficiency depending on the designer's preference. So like David Bowie, they can go either way......ba....dump. However, engineers design the fan placement and fan spin direction so that it doesn't fight the airflow. So on motorcycles and scooters the fan will be a push type on the front of the radiator (the bike's front), and less frequently, a pull type on the backside.
Without cooling fins, airflow across the engine is not a consideration because the radiator does the cooling. Also, the vacuum effect behind the wheel isn't enough to be a consideration. What little vacuum is created by the ovoid shape of the tire is quickly dispersed by turbulence. I'm not making all this up, I did some reading on the subject.
So the fan will generally be on the front of the radiator pushing from front to back regardless of the radiator's placement in the bike.[/i] It's that way on my Fashion and on my motorcycle. I'm sure it's like that on your scooter.[/b]

The fan on my magnum is behind the radiator and pulls air through the radiator. I hope that I don't have to replace it any time soon, as it will be a major bummer to get out. Like bash said it depends on the design of the fan. I do a lot of computer modding and have several computers with water cooling systems in them. I have done a lot of research on the best way to move air through a radiator. I have found out that fans push air better than pull air through a radiator. With every fan there is a vacuum side and a pressure side, it is easier for these type fans to build pressure(push air) than a vacuum(pull air).

I am so glad someone has some solid info on this subject.Well I tore all the plastic off today and my fan pulls the air through the rad. I need a new fan as mine draws so much power the lights almost become worthless. I am thinking I might move my fan to push the air. You are right when you say it is easy to build pressure but hard to create or control vacum.

Measure the current fan that is on there width, height and depth so an equivalent size fan may be found as a replacement. Alleyoop

while it pushed against on coming air, jack arse backwards stupid does not even begin to describe such a design.
they want that bike to run for 6-7 k miles, and then hope your addiction to riding should make you not care it broke, and buy another.
any thing you can do to get heat down will make that bike run longer, someone tells you different, you must be on wall street.
Un regulated China bikes are a scam to prop the dollar, making it last was never on the table, if I am wrong, then look at every post on this forum, and tell me what you see.
I know it stings, I know it seems unfair, but when the rich save themselves, it stings and it is unfair.
Do anything you can to cool that bike down, and don't listen to the laughing sheep around you.

There are no sheep laughing at anyone asking for help on this forum. Sometimes we throw a joke here and there but it is all fun. This is not do or die stuff, it is basically a Chinese scooter forum to help people with the scooter problems since the brand scooter shops will not touch them. And besides IF THEY did touch them get ready to turn over your house for payment. Alleyoop

So I was working on the scoot today and a memory dropped by to see me. I seem to remember buying a fan off ebay for my sons Toyota, but never had time to install before he wrecked it. So I venture into the barn and to the bike shelf area, and there it was! A gift from God because it used the exact same motor as the OEM! The fan blades are longer and would cool better if there was any way to make it fit. I just swapped out the motors, and it is done. I did measure out the OEM fan and bracket so I can post it. I am sure someone out there will need a fan and maybe someone will see my post and know were the fan can be bought. Thanks for all the help everyone. I have not cruised the boards for a few years and forgot how much fun it can be. TQ

It cost 1800.00, I put 200.00 or so in parts in it (100 because I did not flush the brake system when new). Yes it is crude, a poor clone at best, not to be trusted as a daily rider, and will not last forever know matter what you do to it. BUT... it only cost 1800.00 delivered to my door! My Burgman cost 9000.00! It reminds me of 1969 when the jap bikes came to America; it seemed like one was on every corner. I see china scoots everywhere now. They are just another means to put more riders on the pavement and that makes me happy. China found a way for people like me to say" you know that is cheap enough for me to try one, and if I like it I will buy a real one" I did.
