You may have noticed this at the top of the mainpage of the forum:
Proboards is forcing us to upgrade to a new version called V5. You will need to know your password to get into your account after the change. Write it down if you don't know it, I cannot see your password and have no way to get it for you. I'll post more info as i get it. Rich

That's not exactly what they're saying. It's like when you clear History in your browser. Once you go back to forums you have to re-enter your password and username. It also allows you to go lurk in other forums without logging on as many people have been known to do.

And your're being FORCED to do this? Yes
Meaning I'll have to input my password every time I log into scooterdoc? As KZ said, you should only have to enter it to get into the new forum the first time.[/i][/size] After that I think it will be just like this forum. And this is something the users wanted? No users asked for it. Is this ALL proboard forums? Yes, [/b]

But, I thank you for confirming that I won't have to input my password, like so many other sites, every time. Dave

I didn't think you were being a smartass Dave and I'm pretty sure KZ didn't either. His lurking comment was about somebody not on this thread....at least I THINK SO.
Speaking of being a smartass, sometimes people think I'm being short with them (that's what Woody Allen says!) when I accent words like above. But in this texting age people just don't read things closely, they skim. So I often make words bigger or underline them in hopes members will read them. I'm dreading the day after the forum switches, I'll get 9 million e-mails from current members saying they can't log on and "what forum change??!!"

is that the same version I.T.R. is using? I believe so...yes. Doug, the admin on ITR and Rebel, has graciously offered to help me out with the transition.
Today I'll transfer a copy of Scooter Doc to a test site to familiarize myself with V5. One of the potential problems is that I have inserted code into the headers and footers many times since 2010. This code is seperate from the original Proboards programming and may not be compatible with the V5 format. This may affect how the pages of the new Scooter Doc look all the way to how the rotating banners work. These codes are an odd mixture of HTML and Flash and have been cobbled together by adventuresome admins over the history of Proboards. The codes will likely need to be altered, or scrapped, and are what concern me the most at this point.

Yea so if you guys want click on the test sites to get a feel for the new V5 Software that will be coming here as well. Just remember they are test forums and will be blown away so don't put in things that you hope someone will respond with a solution for a problem your having. Alleyoop
P.S GOOD TO SEE the other Forum Owners pitching in to help with the transition. NICE GOING PEOPLE.

I jumped over to the new version a couple months ago at Rebels. My forum is set up a bit different here and I have been putting some features that Rich may or may not want here when the dust settles. IITR is still on V4 just as Doc is, but we do have a test forum set up the JR is experimenting with, he knows more about it than I do at this point.
We have found that code that V4 version used does need some modification, I know I had to alter things on Rebels and JR did research for the IITR to get things closer to what we had. Brent took the dive before me and he has it mastered.
No doubt about it, it is uncomfortable when the change is made but you will get used to it.
Sadly you may have to enter your password more frequently than you would like.
