I was asked to promote this run, It has changed since the first version of three laps around the Salton Sea. This year it will start in San Diego, travel East over the mountains and down into the Imperial Valley to my old home town of El Centro the head north and go around the Salton Sea and head back up and over the mountains to Escondido. We are talking about a grueling run starting at near sea level going up over a 550 foot elevation then down into the desert two near 200 feet below sea level, then riding up over winding mountain roads back over the top and into the North County of San Diego. If you have the time and the guts this would be a ride, 320 miles or more. You will go from beach to mountains along interstate 8, much of it has the old highway to ride on, I've been over all these roads as a kid. Would be a great ride for the brave. You would need a solid scooter to make it with the hill climbing on the way back over the mountains. Thanks for the advice,,,,is there a steel chinese version of any scooter? and any ideas/advice on the rukus clone the rowdy? All the China scoots are built with plastic. As a matter of fact Vespa is the only company not using "Tupperware" panels. In my opinion this is the best for the money, after the Milan style. www.killermotorsports.com/product_p/bms-bm-xlt-110.htmDead reliable, fairly quick and much less labor intensive. Most of the 150 and 50cc Ruckus clones are good bikes too. Genuine Stella is a metal bod scoot I believe, of course it is a copy of a Vespa, but cheaper to buy. www.genuinescooters.com/stella4.html

Jim, I know you had to have a good reason for leaving. Take it from me, I held a grudge for much to long, life is much better when you can get the weight of those seemingly huge problems off the shoulders. After that weight is gone you look back and shake your head.
Life is too short to sweat the things that don't hurt you.

Nice to have warm feelings about ScootDawg.
I have a lot of them but there were many problems with lots of the members, fights over little things, people that felt they were the most important member, had the only correct point of view and I d not miss it at all anymore.
Lee should have let got of the forum years before he finally did.
You have a great forum here, take care of it and be good to the members.

No Firing ?

To test the compression accurately you need a compression tester, a gauge that screws into the spark plug hole to measure the PSI the motor generates when it is turned over. With a new big bore kit you should have no problem in that area unless the piston rings were not lined up correctly and unless you had to use the same head. The head could have a bad valve/valve seat and compression could be lost through there. I assume it looked good but it would have been nice to pull the valves out and done a hand lap on the valves to make sure they had a good chance of working well.
All that said you should be having over 120 pounds of pressure in there when the rings are worn in, new rings on a new cylinder may be a little less than that.
The fact the "finger test" blew your finger off sounds good, I use that test all the time.
If you think you have a fuel problem.
check the vacuum line going to the petcock at the bottom of the gas tank. You can actually pull the other end off and suck on it and that should let fuel go through the line to the carb.
Take off your fuel filter and see if you can blow through it, if no it need replacing
if you have fuel getting to the carb take the bowel off and see if it has gas in it, if not take it all apart and clean it out.
You can also try just squirting some starter fluid into the intake and see if it fires up, then you would be pretty sure there is a fuel problem.

a new topic button is not hard to put in, but you will find that a new feature includes a "participated" button that will come up for threads that have new posts since you last logged in. You can click on that and see all the new stuff since the last visit.

I jumped over to the new version a couple months ago at Rebels. My forum is set up a bit different here and I have been putting some features that Rich may or may not want here when the dust settles. IITR is still on V4 just as Doc is, but we do have a test forum set up the JR is experimenting with, he knows more about it than I do at this point.
We have found that code that V4 version used does need some modification, I know I had to alter things on Rebels and JR did research for the IITR to get things closer to what we had. Brent took the dive before me and he has it mastered.
No doubt about it, it is uncomfortable when the change is made but you will get used to it.
Sadly you may have to enter your password more frequently than you would like.

Doug, by the way Puch is the company that made this for Sears. THanks, now how do you pronounce that.

It would be great to see more on your project. Do you know who made the scooter for Sears to sell? If you can find that out you can probably find out if that company has somebody making speed parts for it.

I happen to have one of these little guys, I also have both the service and owners manuals in digital form if you need it, I don't come around here a lot but Alley knows how to get my attention if you want those manuals. Eh here are the manuals Wiring DiagramOwners ManualShop Manual Part 1 of 4Shop Manual Part 2 of 4Shop Manual Part 3 of 4 Shop manual Part 4 of 4I found all those on the moped army site, very difficult to navigate that forum but if you stick with it they have a lot of good info. You can get a 60cc big bore kit for these and I understand it really helps them. I have no idea what was done to that one but you might consider a spacer under the reed valve.

Rich,
I indeed may have banned you on Rebels a couple years ago when the war between me and JR had been in full swing. As I recall you had told me that you allowed him access to your accounts both email and the forum account on rebels. There were a lot of things posted and emailed that you later told me were sent by JR. Those posts and emails got the response of banning the membership. I would be happy to remove that if you should want it to be. (in fact I hope I can still find it, the new V5 is a real pain, wish I had not "upgraded")
You had created a couple screen names and posted on rebels after that, neither of those screen names were every banned, I think you lost ones password and then created the second. An apology was posted to me and I read it, then edited it because I felt that it was addressed to me and there was no need for it to be there for all to see, it seemed like a private apology. I was still unsure about things at that point and did not know the complete story, I still had an amount of inner rage when it came to a hand full of people that I was having trouble with. As I am sure you are aware all stories have a minimum of two sides.
You also put some nice information about upgrading your stator on the forum, thanks for that.
At this time in my life I have no desire to continue to carry a grudge or ill feelings toward anybody on any of the forums. It is very obvious that people find where they are comfortable, where they seem to fit and that is where they should be.
