Hey boneheads, do me a favor please. Go over to the new forum test site and see what you think. There's a thread I started at the top of the main page you can post on, or start a new thread if you like. One thing I'm very concerned about is the sign in/sign up process. Some of the accounts I used let me right over with no sign in, some I did have to. Please work through it for me and see how problematic it is for you...I'll just leave it at that. Please report back on this thread, or over on the other forum, or both! I have a week or so to decide if we do this change or not. C'mon...help a brother out!

I even posted there. Guess it will be no trick to expand the width out some like it is here. I hate change in just about every thing but that one is not so bad at all. Been needing a new paint job here at the house for a long time and I have been finally getting at it. Got tall ceilings and crown molding so it has been beating me up a lot with climbing and so on but it is getting done one brush stroke at a time. john

Rich, I just went to the members list on the new forum tester and it looks just as bad as the old dawg did with all the people registered that have never made a post. Wonder if there would be any way to either delete the zero posters or get them posting. It doesn't make any sense to me to have a forum with all the dead posters. Some may have registered in order to read the library but they could at least say who they are and at least say where they live. Numbers may relate to forum horse power but they don't mean sh it to me if they don't post. Would rather see a small forum that every one was a poster than all the dead ones here. john

If you want to get rid of the silly looking Scooter Doc Forum title that all V5 forums give you, the one in black text right under your main title


go to admin
click on "themes"
Click on "theme manger"
Put cursor over the "default skin" and a new menu will pop up
Click on "settings"
On title called "Forum Title" hit drop down
Click on "Do Not Display A Title" and it will auto save "done"


To get your menu buttons back go to:

admin
Click on "settings"
Click on "forum settings"
Click on "navigation"

Check each menu button icon you want on your forum menu bar, it will auto save

The "New Topics" Icon button is not part of the main menu, if you want it let me know and I'll tell you how to add it with a custom code.

Also them menu bar color scheme is not just one color layout, HOME is controlled by one color design area in the "color and themes creator" , the middle button icons are controlled by another area and the Login, welcome message is controlled by another. I suggest you color "HOME" like you want, write down the text and background color codes and then put the same code numbers in the other sections to make them match.

I find to much red, I find it hard on the eyes maybe another color here you have red on the left and blue on the thread side, which is easy on the eyes.

All those things are easy to fix, especially the colors. I had a few issues with the log ins but after a couple chats with Proboards that seems to be running smooth. There might be a way to pare down the member list to actives w/o wiping the inactives; I'll look into it. I can always do design work after the transfer as long as the site is functional. What little design I did, installing the Doc banner etc. took about an hour, big deal. I was worried the vendor banners might not work, they're contributors and I can't just send them packing; but all of that is great. So far it looks like a go, I'll let y'all know what shakes out.
