First of all John, I am in the testing phase of this new forum and am not even close to a final version. I've been working on it, off and on mind you, for a couple of days. The new topic button can be easily installed if, and when, we transfer to the new forum. So please hold off on the lamentations on a missing button or other gee gaw until we get a little closer to completion.
And Jack, please don't try to make this some sort of bizarre my forum is bigger than yours thing, thank you.

It wouldn't let me log in. Said page not found when I tried If "page not found" came up I would close your browser and try again. Also, you may have had an interruption in your connection when you tried to access that page. I've tried the URL to the new site many times and it is there. Now getting through the sign in might pose a problem for a few folks, but the site is there.

a new topic button is not hard to put in, but you will find that a new feature includes a "participated" button that will come up for threads that have new posts since you last logged in. You can click on that and see all the new stuff since the last visit.

Sorry John, I've just been a little frazzled trying to balance the forum transfer and all the other regular things I have going on. I should have known you were kidding around, you're a good guy.
Thanks Doug, you know i saw that button and didn't think to click on it. It does work nicely.
I've never been much of a Facebook/Twitter guy but I realize that's what most people want. The new forum is obviously designed to work like those sites, and with the social media. I guess Scooter Doc might as well get with the program.

And Jack, please don't try to make this some sort of bizarre my forum is bigger than yours thing, thank you. No one was doing any of the such. While you want to make lightly the changes being easy and no one said they were hard the new system layout is just plain different. The old things like just simply a reply button or spell check, etc are now done with drop downs, etc. Installing simple things is a matter of wondering around the system and finding how, what and when. Not only that PB has bugs in the system and something as simple as a plugin that will download as the accepted pbp format may download as a MAN file and the system will reject it. The Back to the top button that I found that Doug and I use was a prime example. Most were downloading it in Opera or Firefox which worked like a charm, myself I've got the new (headache) Windows 8 with IE10 and I had to change the file extension to even get it to plugin. PB is now working on their things that are having issues with IE9 and 10. This new V5 has lots of nice features and headaches and lots of people including myself are working on their test forums to dress them up nicely before fully converting and in fact are making their V5 forum have the look of the present V4. Some just want to keep V4? A lot of people and you can read a lot in the PB support forum are not jumping on the V5 band wagon, some have point blank said Goodbye. Doesn't matter we have no choice and it's something that all admins have known for some time, it wasn't a late minute this week notice of the change. Right now if you look at my test site you'll go WTH because last night late I installed a new type picture scroll that I've been working on for a time now and there is some glitch that has to be found, there is a huge space there now and I'm waiting for PB to wake up to look at what's wrong, nothing on my part probably another bug? For us that have done a lot of these things, some simple some a PITA and to share them makes it a lot less painful than spending hours wading through the system layouts and for others that have just started and for sure saves tons of time. Again I fully recommend opting out for a spell and it will allow you to relax and learn the system and also make it look just like you want and save all the material because the day you do convert you start all the putting in again and if you got it all put together then hopefully it'll go smooth when you do so. I want even mention the stories you can read of those who converted and went WTH happened the day they did, you and all of us will have to deal with that when the time comes, myself I have every bit of info backed up on my external hard drives to be safe. People on the support forum are being very creative, finding ways to change this and change that, some of it is actually pretty neat. But the system can be lets say frustrating, the old ways of just modifying the headers and footers like on V4 are gone, very few things are done in the headers and footers in V5. The layout templates are where people are being very creative. Rich you hit the nail on the head when you told John it can be frazzling and yes the Facebookers love this and you can install that on V5 too. The one thing I learned quickly is the worse that can happen on a test forum is you mess it up and then go back and fix it so I see it as the sky is the limit, all depends on what you want for your forum and how much work you want to do to make it that way. One of the things that a lot of people like is the smiley options, V5 has a lot of options on them but it's lots of copying and pasting smiley URL's fun to use not fun to put in, very time consuming. Edit Got the picture scroller going, now got to tweak it and going to see if it can be modified to make it pick up pictures from a place that members can download their photos and it grab them and automatically put them on the screen and I'm also sure this can be put in a category or board instead of on the top of a page. This one really got me got it this morning after a night's sleep and coffee.

If anybody remembers this obscure reference to the Red Green Show:
The Man's prayer: I'm a man. I can change. If I have too...I guess.

Luke I must say your avatar is quite interesting. The devilish side I'm me, has a few comments about it. The first was my 3 sons, and the rest are raunchy. I will leave it at that. I'm just thinking out loud here .
Why don't you give the pic to Rich and Doug and let them make a banner for my site.
