I've been looking around my taotao 50 scooter, trying to learn what I can about it and I found this cable with a screw attachment at the end of it. Any one know what this is used for? Attachments:

I'm guessing it is not a cable, but the carburetor bowl drain hose. They are sometimes protected by a spring around them and it will have a valve on the end of it to drain the carb.

Roy is right on, that is your CARB DRAIN HOSE protected with wire wrapped around it. Here is what the end of it looks like. It has a screw on the end of it to drain your carb bowl of gas if needed. Alleyoop

Take the screw out and your fuel system will drain back to the vacuum fuel valve. Let it dry out completely and use gas proof Loctite, or blue Loctite on it. Do NOT use the red or it will be permanent. Those drain screws will fall out at the most inopportune moment and ruin a nice outing. I've even used silicone caulk if I didn't have Loctite.

i am sorry,, but silicone sucks. nothing sticks to it,, it is near impossible to remove all residue it touches, and it never seals anything for very long. one hasta take away some of the surface to get it clean enough to use any other sealer after it is used and fails (and it will fail,,, fast!). so forget about using any other threadlocker or gasket sealer after silicone is applied.

All you want is so the screw does not vibrate loose, Silicone is great for that kind of application. Say your fuel ratio screw to adjust the mixture keeps on vibrating loose and moving on you just take a dab of silicone and put some on works great. You do not want to LOCK tite screws like that all you want is to stop them from vibrating loose. Alleyoop
