Its not a filter. It holds a small amount of gas and has an over flow tube in the middle that runs back to the tank. Carb is getting gas. Guess my next question is how far out of adjustment do the valves have to be for it not to run at all?

Ok, that white thing then is a overflow to send back any gas to the tank. I woud take that off and just have the fuel hose from the tank to a fuel filter to the carb. Then the Vacuum hose from the intake to the PETCOCK(IF THE TANK IS ABOVE THE CARB) -- FUEL PUMP(IF THE TANK IS BELOW THE CARB). Ok so a CVK carb, you should have a FUEL RATIO MIXTURE SCREW on the left side of the carb; Turn that screw clockwise until it stops do not force it just until it stops then turn it out 2 full turns and see if that helps. Alleyoop BY THE WAY WHAT SIZE CARB IS IT? 24mm or bigger or smaller?

It has a pump, the fuel tank is about the same height as the carb. I adjusted the air fuel screw, but turned it out 2 1/2 turns thinking that's what I had read on here as a good start point. Its stock size , which if I remember correctly is 24 mm?

And are the keihin carbs really that much better than the cheaper ones? I looked for a while to find a decent deal on one and wondering if I wasted my time.

I have a knock off runboung 24mm CVK carb and they great no need to spend all the extra money for a Keihin carb. I have had mine on for 3 1/2 years and I have never even had to clean it once I use a VISU fuel filter and it traps everything. The only thing I do is adjust it for Cold weather and hot weather and that is it.
Yea 2 1/2 turns if a good starting point I said 2 turns because your plug is wet and also the ENRICHER is feeding it fuel for cold starts.
Let me ask this has this scoot ever run since you had it or what? AND if it did what happened when it stopped running?

I only paid $29 for the carb, which was about the same price as the cheaper ones I found. I bough it not running, but actually got it to run this afternoon. Will only idal for a couple minutes then dies. Won't run more than quarter throtle either. Hoping just needs carb adjusments

And probably valve adjustment also.

Do the Valve adjust FIRST, because if they are tight and loosing compression you are trying to compensate for the valves with the carb. So do the valves first then adjust the carb. Alleyoop

Will do, thanks. The owners manual says .005, which isn't what I see recommended here. Any idea why it would say that?

Most of us set the TOP INTAKE TO .004 inchs and the BOTTOM EXHAUST to .005 inchs. On my motor I like .004 inchs on both. So go with .004 inchs top intake and .005 inchs bottom exhaust. Alleyoop

Got it running today. Not entirely sure if it was something in the new carb or something in the top of the engine that was wrong. Just waiting on the after market exhaust, new master cylinder, 12 g :-) sliders, aftermarket filter and jet kit to get here to get it on the road. Thanks for all the help! Not sure if anyone would like info on the bike and mods, but if so let me know and I should have info by the middle of next week.

Oh, and does anyone have a suggestion on what size jet to try first? I got a kit that runs from 115-135 and not sure what size to try first.
