Have a good question I set valves on this 150cc to .004 on both and read about adjusting the carb air/mixture screw and cannot get the engine to stop idling up and down ..so wondering if maybe my valves are too tight would cause this up and down idling since adj the carb seems not to stop this ??

Sounds like you make have an air leak.

With engine running at idle spray or mist around the carb and under it and around the various hoses with water out of a windex bottle and that would even work. I use ether and a lot of people do not recommend that but just about any thing can be used to spray/mist and if you hit a air leak the engine speed will change. Carb cleaner can be used too. Engine speed might go up or go down but when you hit the leak it will change.

thanks I will try that also can a bad battery affect how the motor runs ...like affect the spark or anything else or once its running the battery does nothing???because my battery is junk I jump start it to run
